2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at Rogue in Newport. Unfiltered hazy golden wheat with a fine white head. Alongside the Independence and Revolution single hop beers this one was the worst, but not because of the hop choice. Other than the hop in the aroma (which come across like Chinook with their wood / green vegetable / pine needle brashness), there’s a lot of burnt olive oil and burnt butter notes. The Pacman yeast is very forward with it’s cheese-rind mustiness, only imparting a small amount of drywall powder / paint. Medium to full body, frothy carbonation, heavily bitter and coarse throughout. Prickly soured butter and herbs in the finish. Nice texture, nice appearance, not so nice aroma or flavor.
