Bottle, shared with Parksy and Grippitis. Surprisingly light golden body, with a white foamy cap. Aroma is white grapefruit and metal shavings with boozy undertones. The palate opens with a wave of metal and pineapple, then surges into an acrid, aspirin-like bitterness. The finish is astringently dry with a residue of metal and an alcoholic warmth. I did not care for this the more I drank, but Grippitis didnít mind it. Parksy was somewhere in between.

Portland airport draft. Hazy peach hue, thin head and lacing. Menu says barleywineish (not sold). Definitely mouth heavy. Alcohol, cascade hops, clove, citrus. Hop friendly. Good imperial ipa

Hazy bright orange pour with plenty of white head that fades quickly. Aroma is strong of ripe oranges, some alcohol, clove. Flavor is softer oranges, citrus zest, general citrus hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Burnt amber pour. Lots of fruit and clove in the nose. Tastes was a little bit muddled with malts, grass, cloves, citrus. A little flat and full bodied. Interesting idea, nothing too great.

3/18/14. 750mL bottle shared by Gabe at the last VORLAUF meeting. Golden pour with a decent khaki head. Fruity aroma, mildly hoppy, mostly get fruitiness, caramel, pale malts. Decent flavor, plenty of sweet fruitiness, a touch of grassiness, crackers, dark fruits, sugars. Not bad.

Bought locally for ~$10. A hazy orange brew with a one finger head of foam, doing well with the lacing as the head shrinks. The nose is intrinsically bitter with grapefruit citrus until a few whiffs in when I get a strongish aroma of sweet malt. Super bitter up front, almost too bitter but not quite, as a huge caramel maltiness sweeps in and tames the hop bitterness for the most part. The alcohol is very noticeable, bringing a hella lot of heat. This is also a very dry sucker, a very dry sucker. Medium bodied for the most part though it does get a bit thin in the finish. An interesting brew and a lot cheaper than the Old Crustacean, probably in part because the bottle isnít a swing top but, I like the old one more.

Poured at tasting. A brown amber with white head. Aroma was fruity, orange, a little yeast, and cloves. Taste was alcohol, clove, malts but mostly alcohol. Mouth feel was thick and full bodied. Not my cup of tea.

Big malty beer with a hop blast at the end. Amber with a brown tinge on the pour with an off white head. Really is in between a DIPA and a barleywine. The finish gets a bit crazy on this guy as it gets bitter and dry and lingers for a bit. Not my favorite beer, but worth a drink.

750ml bottle from Crossroads Spirits. Pours a hazy dark golden color with a large foamy white head. Aroma is boozy with notes of sweet citrus, caramel malt, and some spice. Taste is also boozy with lots of older citrus fruit, caramel malt, bitter zest, and pine.
