Bottle, and it was a gusher -- foam inexorably advanced like a fifties sci-fi monster. That said, pours a cloudy red-brown with a very solid, ecru head. Nose is resiny and toasty, with camphor and nutmeg notes. Hoppy on the tongue, with those same piney notes -- I have trouble believing this is only 40 IBU, as it drinks like a dark-malt IPA rather than a dry-hopped brown ale. Finishes clean and bitter. Good, but not what I was expecting.

Bomber, pours an amber body with an off white head, light retention. Nice hop tones aromatically. Hints of grass, and herbal notes. A light pine character and mild citrus sweetness. Mild bread y malt character and some light pine and citrus to finish. Not bad.

Its always good to see another estate grown ale.Pours a cloudy burnt orange with a real creamy head.Hop aroma was hard to distinguish but earthy was more like it along with a unique malt smell.Taste was some shortlived sweetness with a lot of fresh hop grassy somewhat piney bitterness/ also roasted malt bitterness.Well carbonated, fresh and pretty unique malt and distiguished hop bitterness, will be visiting this one soon!

Hoppy beer with good malt backbone. Carbonation right there. Golden colour with creamy head. Faint hoppy aroma. Good drinkability. On tap at Cole’s.

PorterPounder (5195) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAY 8, 2011
Savannah, Ga - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - 22 oz bomber. Pours a dark murky orange with a sticky, frothy off-white head that sticks around quite a while with plenty of lacing. Very fresh floral aroma with a hint of spruce in the back end. Flavor is fresh and fruity. Pick up some nectarine accents, some subtle grapefruit bitterness, some nuttiness to round it out. Thick, sticky mouthfeel. Solid.

22oz bomber. Pours a cloudy orange with a generous white head. Nice hop aroma in the nose with earthy notes. Medium body that starts out malty with a slight hot sweetness and notes of honey. Finishes slightly bitter, very drinkable. Overall: (B+)

22. Pours a cloudy bright medium amber with a dense and woolly tannish head. Lots of webby lace. Mild sweet pleasant nose, piny and peachy. Creamy medium body. Lively carb. Caramel and a bit of toast on the mid-palate. Lots of acidic, tannic notes, maybe from hop oils--tastes like peach pits or peach skins or something, has that pithy bitter bite that can be overwhelming even in small doses. Mild resinous pithy finish. Balance out that pith and this might be a pretty nice APA.

zimm421 (57) - Ohio, USA - APR 27, 2011
Poured into a tulip. Appears a nice amber color with a good, thick tan head. The aroma seems musty, and almost smells like a sweaty sock. Some slight floral notes, but nothing impressive. The taste is very malty, with decent bready flavors and then moves to extremely bitter, again with some floral notes. The aftertaste is bitter and sticks around forever. The mouthfeel is average. Overall, this is not a very enjoyable beer... It is difficult to drink, and not too enjoyable. Definitely a disappointment..

On tap at Mac’s Speed Shop Steele Creek. Pours clear light golden orange with white head. Aromas of sweet candy, orange citrus, and some hops. Flavors of sweet malts, candied sugar, some citrus, and bitter hops. Not the smoothest or most drinkable APA.

Draught. Pleasant citrus aroma. Flavour an uninspiring nothing, light chewing cardboard. Finish a lekker hoppiness, with a dry flinty taste. Best forgotten.
