Gorgeous orange-red-brown color. This is excellent. A slightly sweet malt, a grainy thickness, a dry hop finish. The elements of this beer are constantly battling for prominence, making this truly a fantastic beer. A bit pricey, but overall I really loved this.

Barleywine-ish liqueur aroma; toffee sugar malts. Mahogany wood hop. Really malt-heavy though. Touch of spicy orange rind.
The apeparance is uber-cloudy amber orange, like the orange part of a Tequila Sunrise. Healthy finger of white head. Glorious.
The flavor is sweet, sugary malts, with citrus (specifically, orange and grapefruit) hops, that offset the malts perfectly. The malts are English -- sugary, crystal-like malts. Sweet and molasses-y.
Has a chewy feel; a total choker. Basically, it’s a low-gravity barleywine, which is fine with me. Absolutely outstanding.

22oz bottle. Rusty copper color, beige colored foam. Aroma of caramel, toasted malt, light tortilla chip. Sharp taste of pine and fruit. lots of pine hops, some honey stickiness, and a touch of oily body left on the palate. Flavor of mixed berry or wildflowers. Maybe some apricot. Tropical fruit flavor in the finish. What a mouth explosion. So much going on. Thank you ROGUE for another amazing offering.

Rich hoppy aroma, very bitter and bready flavour. slightly roasty notes. Not much of a hop flavour.
4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 BeeRx (18) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 11, 2012
A- Pours a burnt orange with a white head. Lacing was spectacular, reminiscent of whipped cream!
S- Honey, Caramel, Juicy Fruits (Orange Peel, Grapefruit, Granny Smith Apple and a little Pear), Spicy Notes (Hint of Black Pepper and Cardamom). This beer smells SO GOOD and Im usually not big on smell.
T- It has a good hop bite in the beginning followed by a sweet malty caramel finish. There are tastes of clover honey, citrus fruits that have been over ripened (in a good way, thus the juicy characteristics), some nuttiness, as well as some bready qualities. The mouth feel was light to medium. This is a good pale ale!
Food Pairing- I had this with some sweet jalapeno and thai curry wings along with some seasoned potato wedges...it was a REAL GOOD match. This would also be good with sushi...sushi dabbed with some wasabi and soy.

22oz bomber poured into a shaker. Pours a dark burnt orange with about 2 fingers of thick white head. A nice herbal citrus aroma with a good deal of caramel. Taste is light bitter. Herbal citrus hops with a little caramel. Medium bodied with a somewhat sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. I would be happy to drink this again.
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 3fourths (6400) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - AUG 11, 2010
UPDATED: MAY 16, 2011 bottle. copper color. mixture of orange juicy fruit/bubble gum and musty vegetables with a dank greenness and a touch of caramel malt. frothy and rich body, velvet-like carbonation with a hop bitterness crescendo. leaves the palate parched, dry and provoked. yeast character adds a touch to the body. willamette hops are properly pungent, musty, mushroom-like and earthy (the fuggles comparisons work very well here as this seems like a english pale ale with roid rage). I don’t know much about the first growth independence hops other than they are a variety similar to fuggles (and thus willamette), and that seems to make sense with this beer.

Toasted, biscuit and caramel malts are all prominent in the aroma along with plenty of citrus and herbal (tarragon?) hops. Lightly hazy copper coloured body os topped by a generous, sticky and lasting off white head that coats the sides of the glass. Wonderful balance in the flavour between orange citrus hops and a gentle but full toasted malt character with some notes of toffee. Sweetness and bitterness are incredibly balanced while both are quite pronounced. Medium body is very soft and creamy in texture with fair to moderate carbonation. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle purchased at Kensington Wine Market in Calgary in Oct 2010.

The bottle poured murky honey-orange-brownish with fluffy, sudsy pale khaki head, lasts about 2 minutes. It smells of great citrusy hops, oranges, caramel, honey. Imperial APA?? Bitter-sweet, delicious!
