Bottle. Cloudy orange, off-white head. Nose is citrus, resin, hay-grains, caramel. Flavor is subtle with caramel malts, grassy resin hop bitterness, finishes dry. Medium body and carbonation. A hoppy amber-like ale with prominent malts and hops to bitter out.

Malheureusement en mauvais état au moment de la dégustation. Mauvaise conservation certainement.

The end verdict is that this is a big, chewy brute of a beer. Here’s how I reached that conclusion: It is lustrous red amber in colour with an ugly skim of off-white head and lace down the glass. I don’t mind this because the colour is gorgeous. The aroma sits heavily in the sector of autumnal orchard stone fruit, stewed and redwood resin. This is reflected in a rich flavour that isn’t ’rip your head off’ bitter, but has plenty of character in a sweetish, oily body. Yep. A beer that puts a wry smile on my dial and reminds me why I love APA.

Bomber from LCBO. Pours a brown/ orange, not see through, but not cloudy. Off white head, lacing is there. Sweet malt aroma, a touch of citrus hop. Taste is bitter, but sweet malt with a touch of caramel. I was a little disappointed.

Bottle: Served in a Duvel glass: Medium sized creamy head. Dark red more brown body. Aromas of malts, flowers, hops, plastic, nettle, herbs, farm, cut grass, light wood and light oat/caramel... Flavours of malts, hops, bitters, some bitter fruit, some caramel, some sweet wood, nice and balanced. Not too crazy. Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, malts, caramel, some hops, herbs and nuts. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, good medium bodied and a creamy light dry good bitter texture.

Quite sweet. Pours burnt orange with quite a bit of head and lots of lacing. Nose is caramel, Cheerios. Tastes of caramel, Cheerios, some apple. Taste medium sweet medium bitter. Fullish sticky body with lively carbonation.

Big promise with that name, and I have to say - it delivers. Pours a cloudy caramel (keep an eye on that word) brown with a tan head. Nose? Rich caramel malts, some citrus and slight resin hops. Very nice. The taste, is excellent. Lots of rich caramel malt flavour, the hops is more bittering than anything, but with the overall sweetness it really balances it out. Excellent beer.

Nice nose with citrus, pine, caramel, and floral hop character. Color is a gorgeous, cloudy red-orange with an attractive off-white head exhibitingexhibiting good retention. Taste is similar to the nose, but caramel malt is a bit sticky, leading to decreased palatability. Just slightly higher on the battering hops for my taste. Overall tasty, but not a real easy-drinker for the style.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein trübes rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch kräftig malzig, hopfig, reife Früchte. Geschmack sehr malzig, fruchtig, hopfig, reife Früchte, Aprikose.

Bottle from the LCBO. Dark cloudy orange with a small off white head that leaves some light lace. Smells of caramel, floral hops and orange peel. Solid sweet caramel background support a bitter citrus middle with a light spice throughout. Starts a bit disjointed but things even out nicely as it warms. Mouth is medium slick with average carbonation and a long bitter finish.

Bottle from the LCBO. Blood orange body that pours clear at first, but develops some cloudiness later in the bomber. Small orange-beige head that doesn’t stick around for long. Fruity & malty aroma, with notes of orange and peach, and a toasted grain note in the background. Flavour is a simple and nicely balanced APA - not outstanding, not bad, just a nice drinkin’ beer.
