COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly Chatoe Rogue Pumpkin Patch Ale.

The newest addition to the Chatoe Rogue series is Pumpkin Patch Ale, a beer made using fresh pumpkins grown in a patch that borders Rogue’s 42 acre hop yard. The pumpkins are picked, loaded into Rogue’s farm truck, driven immediately 77 miles to our brewery in Newport, quickly roasted, and pitched into the brew kettle to create a batch of Pumpkin Patch Ale.

bhensonb (8954) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 4, 2011
Bottle from Beverages 4 Less in Santee, CA. Pours very hazy dark amber with a foamy creamy beige head. Aroma is very pie spice - maybe some ginger? Near med body. There’s some malt, but it gets overwhelmed by the spices. Seems somewhat gingery. Goes slightly watery in the finish. Think it could use a higher ABV. I don’t know what it is now, but I think an increase would smooth it out. Pretty good pumpkin ale. There are many less tasty.

Bottle. Poured clear dark orange copper color with an average off-white frothy head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Solid pumpkin and sweet malt aroma. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Medium balanced pumpkin sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid beer.

Amber pour, small tan head that disappeared very quickly. Light pumpkin, some spice, mild hops and bready aromas. Flavor is a great balance of pumpkin, spice, hops and yeasty/malty goodness.

bottle. hazed medium-dark brown with a dark tan fine-bubbled foamy head. rich, fleshy, meaty, slightly-roasted pumpkin nose, a bit like squash soup in it’s heartiness and creaminess thanks to the pacman yeast. intensely fresh and robust nose, and i’m actually very surprised i’m enjoying it this much, bringing back memories of the heralded selin’s grove pumpkin ale. soft and creamy texture, medium body, light to medium sweetness (caramel sweetness, which is oddly out of place and seems to overtake the pumpkin character). spiced, peppery finish seems alcoholic. enjoyable silken texture but the spiciness and caramel / maple syrup sweetness are both a bit excessive.

Bottle in the lobby for RBWG. Pours clearish amber with a fine, foamy head. Loads of autumn spices in the nose, gingerbread. Light to medium sweet flavor, spicy nutmeg, bready malts. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, dry bread, lots of nutmeg and cinnamon. Food spiced ale.

The pour is a slightly hazed burnt orange color with a white head. Strong spice aroma, as expected. Heavy on the nutmeg, cinnamon, and all spice notes. Sweet bread malt with a bit of toffee and biscuit. The flavor is dominated by the spices. A touch of vanilla to go along with the nutmeg and all spice. A nice malty sweetness and good body to go with it. I quite enjoyed this.
