Poured into my Free State pint glass. Cloudy. Already has some points in my book. Who says beer has to be crystal clear? I am not that big on filtering. Pumpkin colored with thick, bubbly head that dissipated fairly quickly. Smells of maple syrup and ginger. Not a bad combo. Already I was worried that this beer would be too heavy handed with the spices. Then I remembered it was Rogue. I put a lot of trust in John Maier. Not too heavy handed on flavor. It seems to be a beer first, then pumpkin and spices second. Spices seem to come up in the aroma more than the taste. I get enough hop bitterness to balance. Medium-light on the palate also. Still not a huge fan of pumpkin beers (except once in a while) but this one was actually pretty good. In John I trust.

"This is a robust full bodied pumpkin ale done very well, itís just hard to get past the $10.99 price tag on what ends up being a good (but not great) beer. Nutmeg, pumpkin, cinnamon malts and other spices. Smooth and tasty, just wish it were $5 cheaper."

Wowza!! This one is pumpkin pie in a bottle. So delicious and not overly sweet. The pumpkin really comes through and the spice profile is spot on for my taste. The best pumpkin ale Iíve had yet (most of the time I donít even bother to rate these).

Pours a hazy reddish-brown with a very thin white foam head. Aroma is pumpkin and a blend of spices, predominantly allspice and cardamom. Flavor is the same, and it comes off sweet. Very enjoyable pumpkin beer.

A really nice pumpkin ale. Great buttery pumpkin aromas with vanilla notes. Flavors are sweet pumpkin with a nice balanced bitterness. Maybe a touch of cinnamon. But this is all about the pumpkin. Nice.

(bottle - 750 ml) Orange pour with an off-white head. Mild pumpkin pie spice aroma with a nice earthy note under it. Flavor isnít overpowering with spice thankfully. Light spice, nutmeg, cinnamon, etc. with a good natural pumpkin flavor.

I loved this beer I just thought it was great. I do have to say that rogue is hot or miss honestly Iíve had beers from them that I thought just sucked but this actually surprised me. Not a huge pumpkin taste but really delicious.

Rated from notes taken 5 Nov 2013 -- Rather than the typical Pumpkin Pie Flavors, this is straight pumpkin flavored, a little herbal. I appreciate the difference.

Shared bomber poured to snifters, showing a cloudy, copper color, was a presentable layer of off white, head foam, and spotty lacing. The aroma was a huge nose of fresh pie spice, with some pumpkin and toasted scent noticeable upon follow up. Light to medium bodied, the intensity fell off a bit in the taste, but still retained some of itís light toastiness, low bitterness, complementary malt, and nice, fall sessionability.

22oz orange bottle served in a small tulip.
Hazy brown with a pretty good head
A substantial amount of pumpkin pie spicing in both the aroma and the taste, but enough dark malts to show through. Has a fairlly good balance but a little too spicy. Eventually a good squash taste joins the cinnamon and nutmeg..
