COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly Chatoe Rogue Pumpkin Patch Ale.

The newest addition to the Chatoe Rogue series is Pumpkin Patch Ale, a beer made using fresh pumpkins grown in a patch that borders Rogue’s 42 acre hop yard. The pumpkins are picked, loaded into Rogue’s farm truck, driven immediately 77 miles to our brewery in Newport, quickly roasted, and pitched into the brew kettle to create a batch of Pumpkin Patch Ale.

Wow! Fantastic for pumpkin ale. I don’t know what it is but I am really fascinated with pumpkin beer. If I see one I must try it. So far my favorite in the style is the Brurey’s Autumn Maple because it is barrel aged. I know it’s yams but same idea anyway. The spices are perfection. Aroma is rich pumpkin and spices. Alcohol is not listed. I am guessing it is because it is probably below 5%. Rogue if you are listing Please please please barrel age this beer.!!!!

This is one of the better pumpkin beers I’ve had. VERY rich in pumpkin flavor. Where many pumpkin beers highlight their spice cocktails, especially those heavy in nutmeg and cloves, this is pumpkin heavy. Very drinkable, very attractive beer. Gift from Nick.

750 ml bottle into signature shaker pint glass, 2012 bottling. Pours lightly hazy reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Slight spotty soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of caramel, pumpkin, pear, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, toast, brown sugar, clove, brown bread, and herbal hops. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of malt and spices. Taste of caramel, pumpkin, toast, ginger, pear, nutmeg, cinnamon, brown sugar, clove, brown bread, and herbal spiciness. Fair amount of spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, pumpkin, pear, toast, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, clove, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of flavors; with a nice malt/spiciness balance; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, slick, and foamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish, as expected of 5.6%. Overall this is a highly excellent pumpkin ale! Great balance and complexity of malt/spice flavors; and extremely smooth to drink. A highly enjoyable pumpkin beer offering.

Bottle, LCBO. Late, but appreciated finding this one in Waterloo! Dark orange/brown with small bubbly head. Really nice pumpkin aroma - not all the spices, just pumpkin - solid. Great bottle too it should be mentioned. Taste - nicely balanced pumpkin over a lively medium body with some nice bitterness in the end from either hops or the roasted pumpkin or soemthing. Really easy to drink. A pumpkin with substance but not overwhelming, this may be my favorite one yet. Nicely done Rogue.

Orange 750ml bottle. Deep copper color, light tan foam. Aroma of spice, squash, very delicate. Smells like a well spiced, pumpkin beer. Sweet malt, toasted grains, roasted squash, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin spices. A bit stronger than I expected. Hearty & full bodied. (3601)

Nice aroma of spices, nutmeg and pumpkin; flavours of sweet malts, pumkin, slight citrus and lingering spices. Like a Southern Tier Pumpking. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPad

750mL orange bottle pours clear copper with a tannish head of foam. The aroma is a pleasing earthy pumpkin note followed by a modest degree of cinnamon and nutmeg before the end of the draw brings on more smooth sweet pumpkin. The taste is fairly rich with earthy pumpkin followed by complimentary notes of cinnamon and nutmeg that are at a level where they’re letting you know they’re there but allow the pumpkin to be the main flavor player.
