COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The newest addition to the Chatoe Rogue series is Pumpkin Patch Ale, a beer made using fresh pumpkins grown in a patch that borders Rogue’s 42 acre hop yard. The pumpkins are picked, loaded into Rogue’s farm truck, driven immediately 77 miles to our brewery in Newport, quickly roasted, and pitched into the brew kettle to create a batch of Pumpkin Patch Ale.

review from sinter of 2011 - figured since I just opened the Good Chit Pil it would be a great time to add another old review in. Eyeballs: medium brown with some orange hues, decent tan head of thickness, lacing was ropy. Nostrils: pretty large flavour - no subtleness here - ginger, cloves pie with a squash relative stuffed in it, nutmeg and a bit of bread. Stayed strong throughout. Eat hole: the flavour comes across weaker than the smell but that’s ok. Caramel and meaty pumpkin, nutty and just a small amount of those strong spices from the aroma. Smooth with good carbonation. Tricked again into a pumpkin beer purchase.

A huge fan of Rogue beers. But after having many pumpkin beers this one just didn’t have enough pumpkin flavor.

Don’t recal where I purchased a single bottle from but it was sometime in 12/2011. Colour: Kind of a nutty brown with white low head. Nose: The pumpkin seems inter-twined with an assortment of spices....cinnamon, mint, cumin. The malt is very nutbread-ish. Traces of honey and wax. Taste: Medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, light sour. A bit restrained....pumpkin, white bread, gentle roast...but very quiet and not as bursting with freshness as I would have expected. Waxy mouthfeel.

Amber pour, small tan head that disappeared very quickly. Light pumpkin, some spice, mild hops and bready aromas. Flavor is a great balance of pumpkin, spice, hops and yeasty/malty goodness.

22 oz bottle. Clear deep amber with a small beige head. Big aroma of pumpkin pie spices, graham cracker and a slight vegetal quality. Flavor is smooth caramel malt and pumpkin pie. Medium body with average carbonation and a clean finish. Solid pumpkin brew, not over spiced and very smooth.

22 oz. bottle from Whole Foods in "downtown" Seattle. No head, but it does have a hazy brown body. Nothing special to look at here, but it smells promising. Somewhat of a roasted pumpkin aroma, complimented by cinnamon and nutmeg. It’s not blowing my nostrils away, but there are some subtle nuances here, that allow it to be subtly nice. Mainly I get the cinnamon and nutmeg, which often times, I think is an excuse to cover-up for a lack of pumpkin in the fucking beer. This, at least, has a light pumpkin aroma. Slick texture that carries in the cinnamon and nutmeg well. The cinnamon seems to provide a lasting bite on the tongue that is not cloying. Hints of roasted pumpkin come through, at times, but I still have yet to try a beer that has that deep, natural pumpkin taste. I’m not blown away here, but I do think this fairly good for the style. Not really tasting the vanilla or cloves, but hey it says they’re in there. Fuck, well maybe a hint of vanilla, but I’m not getting much of it.

Not a bad brew, I might have had it a tad past its expiration date. A nice pumpkin, spice and wood flavor. Some spice adds to the finish.

Tap at Rogue Public House - lightly hazy amber - nose of earthy roasted pumpkin, nutmeg, toasty maltiness - flavor is medium dry toasted malt, moderate roasted pumpkin, very mild spice - a little vegetal in the finish - very light lingering cinnamon - decent.

Clear brown, thin beige head. Aroma of pumpkin, some light spice. Taste of nice mellow pumpkin without being overly sweet or spiced, toffee sweetness. Milky smooth texture.

Cloudy foggy orange brown color. Smells just like pumpkin pie. Taste like pumpkin pie spice and cheap beer. Yuck.
