651 ml. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, light beige head, with Belgian curtain lacing, over a clear, initially, later cloudy, dark brown (SRM 25) body......nose is heavy rye, hints of cocoa, light banana/bubblegum, slight herbal hops........taste is heavy rye, very light banana/bubblegum, no clove, cocoa, finishing with a moderate herbal bitterness.......mouth feel, medium body, no alcohol, carbonation makes a creamy mouthful. This is a nice Roggenbier ignoring the Rogue pun. The yeast contribution is a bit low for the style, but it is otherwise a good representation. Perhaps a yeast change would improve. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7

Half pint from Urban TapHouse in Cardiff (not necessarily best source). Pours a very dark brown with a thin sandy off-White head. Aroma is very grainy and smokey, low to none hop aroma. Slightly muddy aroma. Taste is smokey caramel. It’s like charcoal and crystal malts. Not an awful lot of rye coming through but a moderately spicy rye note underpinning the smoke. Smooth and drinkable but distinctly average.

50cl bottle from cerveteca lisboa. Color is brown. Head is medium and beige. Taste is medium sweet, light to medium bitter. Aroma is yeasty, chocolate, biscuit. Flavour is spices, grainy, malty.

Pretty good. I don’t know what rye tastes like. It works though as a general all purpose style of session beer.

Appearance - chestnut with some orange chinks. Nice head.
Nose - brown bread, light smoke. A hint of dried fruit.
Taste - big dried fruit cake thing. Lovely smoky backdrop.
Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a balanced dry finish.
Overall - reminds me of Schlenkerla Fastenbier. Delicious.
