3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SpringsLicker (2539) - USA - JUL 26, 2010
Growler
Dark copper body with a tall, creamy, off white head.
The aroma has some earthy funky hops and mild citrus with a bit of pine in the back.
Mildly bitter from start to finish with the underlying malt coming in at the end - reminds me more of a double IPA than IPA.
Medium body.
This seems to have a bit more kick to it than the 6% listed.
Respectable local IPA.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Suttree (3927) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - JUN 26, 2011
UPDATED: JUL 23, 2011 Buttery aroma. It tasted OK, but man was it buttery smelling. Flavor-wise it was crisp and clean, with some herbal notes, and some crackery malty notes. Some earthy flavors as well. Not bad, just couldn’t overcome the aroma. At the Knoxville Brewfest. Re-rate, July 22, 2011 - Had it again at Bearden Beer Market - This was better, not nearly as buttery as it was at the festival, but there was still some buttery notes in there. Still, getting better...

Draft sample at CBC. Poured clear dark copper color with an average to large frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate earthy hop and malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate smooth bittersweet flavor with a moderate bitterswwet finish of medium duration. This a very good brew.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 GAManiac (1905) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - APR 4, 2011
Listed as Chattanooga B.C. IPA at Taco Mac Chattanooga so presumably this is the right listing.
Pours very dark for an IPA, deep clear amber with a small beige head and a little collar remaining after a couple minutes.
Aroma is very sweet with tons of malts and a slightly perfumey hop presence. Maybe some herbal spicy notes as well.
Taste has the herbal hops up front with a spicy bitterness that gives way to a very sweet caramel and doughy malt backbone. Finish is bitter.
The feel is medium bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall, a decent sweetish IPA with more spicy hop character than anything else.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Shag (2283) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - JAN 24, 2011
On tap - Tremont Tavern. This poured a copper color with a small white head. The aroma contained caramel, citrus and perfume. The flavor was extremely bitter with some orange peels, lemons, and grapefruit. There was also a nice malt backbone to it with caramel present. The aftertaste is very bitter also. Overall any hophead is probably going to like this, and that is me!
