A spectacular mead. Sweet clover honey aroma with a slight alcoholic touch. Fantastic sweet honey flavor, moderately sticky, with a certain brown-sugary quality to it. I would love to try this again mulled with spices.

Crystal clear pale yellow body. Very good, well-balanced honey flavor, with some light herbal notes. I'm not that experienced with meads, but this one is quite sweet, but it's a natural sweetness that obviously is due to the honey. Not as wine-like as I expected, though.

Sampled at room temp. and mulled with enclosed spice packet.
Faintly carbonated.
Wine-esque. Earthy, grassy, fresh, aroma. Can detect the individual honeys used when served without additional spices. The alfalfa variety evens out the orange and sage honeys as neither is overpowering.
Crisp and clean palate -warm or cool.

Rating is for at room temperature. Nice light honey aroma. Flavor is sweet and honeyish, of course. A nice warming mead, that I could certainly have again. Warmed up with the spices was also tasty, gets some fruity characters (apple, I thought), but it seems better to me at room temp.

I decided to mull this one with the included spice packet.before the spices it was a nice clear lite golden color after mulling it took on a slightly cloudy darker golden color. The aroma was very sweet wine like with a strong presence of allspice cinnimon and cloves with a faint hint of alcohol, almost like drinking a well made pumpkin pie.The alcohol is the first thing to hit you but it changes fast to spices and sweet honey.Definately much smoother to drink then the Jadwiga. The after taste is sweet honey with a good spicey kick to it,with the alchol making a mild burn on the way down. This is a fantastic tasting mead, but i would definately recommend trying it unmulled for a unique comparison of flavors.

My bottle came with two "tea bags" of spices, so I enjoyed this mulled on Christmas Day (in the manner I assumed it was intended). Appeared golden/amber with a sticky thickness. Aroma was like fresh apple pie, with Cinnamon and other spices... and a hefty helping of alcohol gives the impression of spiced rum. Honey-thick and smooth in the mouth with a warming quality coming as much from the alcohol as from the flame. Very sweet with a touch of apple tartness along with those gorgeous spices. I split a 750 with 5 family members and it was very satisfying to each of us. Even without trying it chilled, I must recommend serving this heated and spiced.

bottle purchased around 2007. pours a clear lightly gold hue with no head. when drinking hot and mulled with the provided spice pack, there is a lot of cinnamon and clove in nose with sweet honey. the cold base is sweet and has an almost white grape character. i enjoyed both ways. the heated version seems to bring out the alcohol a little more. pleasantly surprised. very nice.

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2003 This mead gave me reason to hope for both a taste for mead and maybe even a taste for wine one day. Lurgashall's English mead came on too sweet (and cost $10 for a 12oz bottle). This is drier, but still plenty sweet. There's no carbonation and it's kind of sticky. There are notes of alcohol, and biting sulfites that give the smell of honey a little character. The taste of alcohol is subdued, but one can pick up the sulfites and of course it wouldn't be mead without a sweet honey flavor. Very wine-like. That's for the plain mead at room temperature. I used the rest of the bottle to make mulled mead. The bottle came with two bags of clove, cinamon and ginger for mulling. The warmth and spices just added that much more to an already pleasant drink and gave it a slight coppery tint. Either way, this is a good desert drink and would be perfect for cold nights. I'm definitely going to keep a stock of this for winters from now on.

Aroma is apples, spice, honey, and grapes. Appearance of white wine. Extremely sweet taste with a big dose of honey, and white grapes. Some alcohol showing through to produce a nice warming effect. Of the 3 meads I've tried so far, this one has more complexity to it. I like it.

I really enjoyed this one, this being the first time I have tried mead I felt the experience was deserving of praise. This would be something that would be perfect for cold nights and a nice warm fire, while hungrily gnawing on a hank of roast pig, while shouting to the peasants to pray for their king in this time of great hardship. The peasants, upon hearing their king’s pleas, eagerily take up whatever arms they can find, be it a hoe, pitchfork, even the occasional club, and rush into battle. The war with the visigoths is proving to be long and arduous, but the peasants are brave and strong. Their king is pleased.
