Bottled bought at GBBF 2010. A dark golden beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of spices, malt, and sour vommit. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, elderflowers, spices, and caramel, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Bottle. Hazy gold with a firm off white head. Aromas are weetabix with woody notes and toffee. Marmalade with tea and mixed spices. Bready yeast with raisins. Flavours are toffee with low pine woodiness and lemon. Some grapefruit bitterness with herbal notes and a spicy finish. Reminded me a little of Goldminer. Pretty good.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Light amber best bitter. Some fruit. Fairly dry. Some bittering hops leading into a fruity fragrant bitterness . A drinkable beer with opal fruits flavour, though perhaps a little dry and thin for the strength.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ALLOVATE (1708) - Butler, WA, AUSTRALIA - FEB 3, 2012
Tried back in August ’11. Pours a deep amber, almost bright, with a flurry of pent up carbonation raising a nice white, rocky canopy that holds well and leaves good legs. Straw, sunsoaked grains and pine initially on the nose with hints of lemon and lime, pepper and musty garden flowers. Good toasted malt base on the palate, Summer grains again, quite pasty yet the body is light. Carbonation is delicate, it’s easy to down. Light tangy citrus edge with flowerbed notes, light spice and a moderately bitter finish. I love the malt profile, but the hops are dull, the finish short, crisp. Simple and light, unexpected of an IPA so I see it more as a Golden ale. Not bad, not great! (50cL BBE 02/04/12, West Country Ales, Cheddar Gorge, Somerset)

Bottle. Bronze beer with a light head. The aroma is toffee and roasted, and the flavour is dry, vinous and roasted toffee bitter. Overall a reasonable toffee bitter.

decent english style ipa. Nice floral hops and a pleasing bitterness. Light body and refreshing citrussy character. Happy enough to drink this whenever it’s offered!

Cask @ O’Connell’s.
Pours an unclear reddish brown colour with a white foamy head. Aroma of hops and hay. Flavour of English hops, hay and toffee. Light/medium bodied with a watery but dry bitter and grassy finish. Very easy to drink.

[500ml bottle, deli in Ullswater] Pours a dark gold – like all of their bottled beers I’ve sampled, high bottle conditioning and low carbonation. Hoppy pine aromas, on the palate it doesn’t taste strong for 5.7%, the finish is a touch thin. However, it’s a decent British-style IPA, slight bitter pine aftertaste. I’d have this again, and on cask it’s probably much better [31122010]
