COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular. Also available Bottle Conditioned at 4.2%.
The intricate blend of hops we use in our distinguished Best Bitter provides a clean bitter taste that complements the warm malt flavours perfectly. It is brewed using the best quality Maris Otter and Crystal malts and hopped with a blend of English whole hops.

500ml Bottle - Copper coloured. Malty and fruity aroma with hints of dried fruit. Fruity taste with malt, caramel and dried fruit. A bit bland.

Bottle. Hazy amber with an off white head. Aromas are apple and lemon with light pineapple. Yeasty with biscuit and toast malts. Flavours are toast and grain with light lemon and yeast. Quite bloating with a dry finish. OK.

ALLOVATE (1708) - Butler, WA, AUSTRALIA - JAN 26, 2012
Tasting from August 201.
Pours a bright orange and settles to appear almost still. Head goes up and then goes down leaving but a ring of white atop. Honey, pear drops, underripe melon and toffee on the nose, quite sweet, with a touch of salted roasted nuts and pinewood. Similarly sweet in the mouth. A lot of crystal malt gives it a sticky golden syrup, Anzac biscuit, praline-like taste with little to balance it. There is grainy, bready hint mid-palate and tangy marmalade in back with a hint of burnt sugar in the swallow. Body is light but it becomes cumbersome as it warms. Lacks balance. (50cL, BB 31/08/12, West Country Ales, Cheddar Gorge, Somerset)

SilkTork (4736) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, WALES - JAN 26, 2012
500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. The conditioning hasn’t worked well, and there’s a mild sharpness about the beer which feels unintended and spoils the pleasure. Beyond that one can detect an indifferent bitter that may, when fresh and in perfect condition, be light, flowery, fragrant and refreshing.

Bottle conditioned. Pours a mid brown colour with a big white head, plenty of malt in the aroma, the taste is malty with some fruit with a dry bitter finish.

bottle at home ... copper ... bubbly off white head ... soft fruity metalic nose ... light fizz ... bitter metalic ... light spicy hop ... very so so.

DruncanVeasey (5146) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - FEB 17, 2011
Bright copper with a bubbled off-white head and some snowstorm floaties towards the bottom of the bottle. Indistinct aroma; hay and caramel with a hint of beef. Not much on the flavour front; a rub of aniseedy hop, one elderly sultana. Caramel nothingness. The detritus is more interesting than the beer.

Pint, random pub in Somerset. Grassy-floral hoppage, toffee malt, sickly sweet caramel malt, very boring bland best bitter type, creamy white head, low-flat carbonation, creamy and oily. Dry finish. Just very dull and boring.

Cask in the rake. Alround rating: Plasticy hop, brown ale malts, grassy bitterness, plastic seems to dominate. Poor.

Chocolatey malt on the Nose, clear bronze to look at and malt on the palate and tongue, not bad, not great either.
