1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 Derek881 (729) - Frederick, USA - NOV 2, 2011
Purchased a tall can in Chiang Mai, Thailand and poured into a short glass to drink. The beer had an average-dark gold color with a very small foamy white head that quickly disappeared. The aroma had some strongish bitter grainy scents and maybe a touch of straw. Its taste was bitter and grainy and became more roughly bitter as it was swallowed. A very thin, light beer with little carbonation or mouth presence.

50cl can at the hotel in Bangkok. Standard South-East Asian pale lager appearance and aroma. Light golden with a small white head. Light malty aroma with alcohol and hint of cooked vegetables. Sweet with a quite alcoholic taste. Not very good, tried it once and I don’t need to try it again. Barely drinakble. Strong and cheap, but a bit nasty. (2012-05-16)

Smell is non-existent, so is the taste but that’s a step up from most beers available in Thailand. No foul aftertaste at least, other than the high alcohol no real taste at all. Probably the best bang for your buck in Thailand, gets you drunk quicker and you have to put up with less Thai beer taste to arrive at your preferred standard of drunkenness. Drank from a half liter red tin in Koh Tao.

Can from Thai supermarket. The big brother of Cheers, this is a fairly decent and surprisingly well-balanced (alcohol-wise) strong lager beer which I see is somehow classified as a malt liqour although I fail to see the difference between this and your run-of-the-mill strong lager. Oh well. Drinkable enough, but nothing great of course.

Possibly the best Thai beer I’ve had but was saved in part by the high abv. Malt and alcohol lends a strangely attractive layer of sweet aniseed and fills he body out nicely.

Rich golden straw color. Head dissipates very quickly.
The smell is incredibly sweet and phenolic. Almost a rubbing alcohol edge.
The taste is overbearingly sweet. It doesn’t taste as boozy as expected. No hops whatsoever, but it is somehow bitter. I’m curious what exactly they did here.
The mouthfeel is as bad as it gets. it feels like cough syrup. The sweetness sticks with you because of the thickness. Blech.
Drinkability- no. Stay away. The mouthfeel coupled with the sweetnes is what really makes this unbearable.
