tgncc (299), Bellmore, New York, USA Sep 27, 2008 Growler from Whole Foods - Bowery. The aroma is of roasted coffee, and alcohol. The appearance is true to the style, a dark brown, with a tan head. The flavor is rosted coffee, chocolate, and an unexpected citrus hop flavor, unusual for this style. The finish has a roasty quality as well, but actually demonstrates this unexpected hoppyness even more. Very good stout. swoopjones (1179), Buffalo, New York, USA Aug 29, 2008 On tap @ Chelsea. Very nice stout. Pours deep black with tan head. Huge aromas of chocolate, coffee & roasted malts. Taste is very well balanced with chocolate, coffee & plenty of roastiness. Nice fuller bodied mouth feel. Very good stout sheatripper (826), Brooklyn, New York, USA Apr 5, 2008 Nitro at Brazen Head. Deep, bold and robust dark chocolate and dark coffee aromas and flavors. Richly structured with a dark chocolate and earthy coffee tandem, tempered with a nice underlying roasty bitterness. Nice, full and hearty stout goodness. Going well with my smoked gouda. golubj (1036), Redwood City, California, USA Mar 30, 2008 Cask at Manhattan Cask Festival. Black pour with some brown bubbles. Aroma is light roast, and some chocolaty sweetness. Flavor is the same, sweet from caramel malt and hints of chocolate, and some bitterness from the roasted malt. Alright palate.
