Just had this with a bratwurst lunch at the brew pub. Outstanding! I turned a buddy onto it and now he’s looking to purchase a growler. Fine appearance, great palate and a nice kick considering its rated at 7.6% alcohol. This has a great finish and leaves you wanting another. Too bad we had to get back to work.

Tap at Blue Monk. Exceptional beer. Aromas of chocolate, and caramel. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes, and good length. Palate is syrupy, and full bodied. Black, with short-lived head.

Easily the best beer Nick and tried during our visit in 2013. Heavy roasted aroma and flavor. More coffee than dark chocolate. Decent amount of alcohol, some of which comes through.

Had it at Tap New York this past weekend. Dark in color. Roasty stout. Really good. Smooth flavors. Chocolatety. Great beer.

On tap at Chelsea Brewing Co, New York on 28 July 2011. Impenetrably black (dark enough to write with); light brown foamy head quick to decay, and sinking temporary lacing. Intense roast malts aroma. Liquid of roast barley; coffee, fresh cookies. Aftertaste continues this rich mix with the introduction of a citric note. Zingy texture, very good.

Tap NY. Once again, thanks to the brewer for bringing over a nice big sample for me. This is a big roasty dark smooth and drinkable stout. No off notes, just chocolate and dark malt bitterness.

This is a great overall stout. Pours very dark, nice brown head and great lace. Aroma has lots of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, and a bit of hops. Flavor is full of roasted barley and some chocolate malt with just a hint of a dry acidity from some black malt. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with a full body. Very well made.

Tap at Barcade. Pitch black with a thick sticky creamy dark brown head. Very sweet milk chocolate aroma, a bit of nice leathery aroma, dark cocoa and a soft chewy black licorice note. Very rich flavour of dark chocolate and deep rich malts. A velvety wheaty texture wiht a nice chewiness. Herbal and earthy bitterness with a bit of espresso on the back. Molasses and dark malt sweetness throughout. Soft lingering roastiness. I’m usually impressed by Chelsea’s stouts, and this is no exception.
