11th October 2008. GABF. Smooth but dry palate. Toasted malt. Dry finish. Where is that Oatmeal silky sweetness?
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 hophead75 (2005) - Largo, Florida, USA - JUL 16, 2008
on tap at Barcade. Pour seemed very dark- but it was dimly lit so hard to tell. A nice, roasty aroma with light oat oats, chocolate, and chalk. Taste is chocolate, moderate roast, with a nice silky oat body and touches of dark fruit. Finishes with a light roasty bitterness.
Nothing too complex here, but it is a well made sweet stout.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 PilsnerPeter (2959) - Flushing, New York, USA - JAN 16, 2008
Nitro at Barcade: Very dark, near opaque pour. The dark tan head becomes a ring. Strong roast in the aroma with a soft oat presence and dark chocolate. Creamy and mild carbonation. The flavor has some very subtle tart undertones upfront with burnt fruits: raisins (a grape-like touch) Then comes a chewy oat body and a rich coffee filled, long bitter roasted finish. A solid Sweet Stout.

Nitro at Barcade. Dry, clean, chalky aroma, very light. Similar flavor. Has a touch of vegetal sweetness in the finish. Good oat flavor. A bit boring.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sammy (6119) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 9, 2008
On-tap at Barcade. Bitter coffee, sour edge, medium mouthfeel. Chocolate and burnt coffee aroma; lace and head. Not working out.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 MaxxDaddy (306) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JAN 9, 2008
Tap at Barcade. Pours like a stout, with maybe a centimeter of tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate, in that order. Pretty nice aroma. Taste is similar, though the mouthfeel is a total letdown; too watery. On the plus side, at least the flavor wasn’t that way at all. Decent I suppose; good for sessioning.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Rastacouere (5920) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 28, 2007
Very dark brown pour that seems clear around the edges. Again, Chelsea, even with the use of oatmeal, fails to provide a rich mouthfeel. A rather thin, simple stout with more graininess than most. Coffee heaviness and timid powdered chocolate flavours. Mostly dry on the palate with roasty bitter finish.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 golubj (1376) - San Mateo, California, USA - OCT 28, 2007
Draft at the brewpub. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, and some creaminess. Flavor was similar; and decent for the style. Probably my favorite out of the five I tasted that day.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 alexanderj (2851) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - OCT 28, 2007
On tap at the brewpub; probably the most enjoyable for the style. However, it was a rather bland version of the style. Color and nose were good; with some chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor was much of the same, with only a light sweetness.
