Tap at Hop Devil Grill. Golden amber beer, massive, sticky tan head. Mice spicy/fruity hop aroma. A bit of woody/spicy resinous hops but also a fairly prominent citrus hop character. A touch of tropical fruit and a pithy orange/grapefruit character. Decent balance and a soft caramelly malt character. Earthy/dusty malt character. Nice pale ale. A little bit too sweet for my tastes, but it isn’t bad.

[Cask @ Pacific Standard] Poured a hazy golden orange color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus fruits, toffee malts, vanilla, and floral hops. Taste of citrus fruits, almonds, light vanilla, and a dry, lightly bitter finish.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2007 Cask at Pacific Standard. Small head and an aroma of soaked Wheaties. Flavor makes me think this cask may not be so fresh. Easy drinking’ tho. Compelled to rerate after drinking on tap at HDG.

Draft. One of the few good Chelsea brewing company brews that I have ever had. Pours a pale orange. Not overhopped and very drinkable.

Off notes 4/2007. Pours a fogged amber color. Not a whole lot going on with the nose - it’s pretty mild. Flavor is grassy and leaf like. A lot of strong tones from those character aspects. Sweet on the end. Feel has a thicker liquid feel and a low carbonation. Very smooth and highly drinkable.

On tap at the brewery. Dry hopped cascade, drop of toast. Some lace on grapefruit colour. Not as hoppy as their redone red. Aggressive carbonation that subtracted on mouthfeel. Ho hum but drinkable.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask at Brazen Head. Listed as "Chelsea Pale Ale." Poured slightly hazy copper/orange with a small off-white head. Bright citrus, floral and peachy hop aromas. Sweet toffee malt flavor with citrus hops throughout. Mildly bitter grapefruit finish. Only minor complaint is that it is a bit too sweet and nectary, a characteristic which is perhaps amplified by the warmer temp and lack of carbonation. Sweetness possibly more restrained on tap?Otherwise another good offering from Chelsea.
