Toasted coconut flakes, caramelized dates, and vanilla beans. One is never enough!

Good beer. The coconut was not overwhelming, nicely done, making for an overall drinkable beer that I would gladly (yes, gladly) get again. This and the Whispering Wit were the best of the Cherry Street brews, for me.

Black with a medium tan head. Aroma is toasted coconut with a bit of vanilla and chocolate. Flavor is roasted malt, a little bit of sweetness and toasted coconut. Coconut is pleasant, but not overpowering. Quite tasty. Wife: 4

Appearance: Very dark brown, near black body with a lasting, light khaki-colored head.

Smell: A note of the toasted coconut utilized quickly pops out, followed by the more subtle and subdued roast, chocolate, and coffee.

Taste: Roasty maltiness wrapped in toasted coconut -- mocha, chocolate. Medium sweetness. Meager earthiness underneath. Minimal hop character, bitterness. Drying, roasty with very, very mild, lingering bitterness, like unsweetened almond milk.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: A nice concoction that elevated the base Sawnee Mountain Porter.

On tap from the brewer at the 2014 HSS Beerfest. There’s a load of coconut and a bit of vanilla in this beer, giving it a very enticing aroma but leaving it with a flavor that is a touch too sweet (excepting as a dessert beer) and too dominated by coconut {but I love coconut}. Still, a very tasty and easy to drink beer, and a big beer for such a moderate ABV. Clear dark brown with .sticky patches of lacing.

On tap at Classic City Brew Fest 2014. Pours a thick brownish black with thin ring of tan head. Aroma is nice on the roast with an awesome sweet coconut background. Taste follows, hints of chocolate added on top. Medium carbonation, nice creamy mouth. Very well done.

Sample at the Beer Growler in Alpharetta. Pours dark brown, with a medium, beige head. The aroma is oats, black bread, light chocolate, and some black tea. Very sweet and malty, with some savory spice. Light to medium body, chalky, with an alcohol warming to the finish. This is a mediocre porter, at best, and the coconut is all but indistinguishable.

Growler from Taps. Coconut really comes in the aroma and follows through for a slight bit in the flavor. It does work well with the body and chocolate flavors working here. Nice body and presence without being overly dominant. A good balance and well rounded beer with a unique element of the coconut.

Comes out of the tap a rich, opaque coffee brown with a thick, golden-tan head. Smoky, mocha aroma has a definite note of coconut - like a beer brewed with Mounds candy bars. Rich flavor has coconut, coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, and subtle earthy notes. Firm texture has a good amount of fizz, and leaves a tingly coconut finish. Go cuckoo for coconut!

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2013 Tap @ Cherry Street. Dark brown pour, sexy lace. Aroma if vanilla bean, roasted malts, nutty grains, earth. Oily texture. Tastes of nutty grains, coconut oil, vanilla bean extract, roasted malts, chocolate malts, roast. I?ve had other Coconut Porters, this is the one! Perfect balance. Nice roast, huge flavor, lingering coconut dessert character. Nice mild sweetness, gentle bitterness. I really liked this beer! Whoo. (3785)

Draft. This was the best beer that I have had thus far at Cherry Street. It was just super tasty. Black body with a dark, nice mocha head. Aroma is nutty, coconut oil, earthy and roasted notes. Taste is coconut oil, medium sweetness, slight roast with a medium bitterness. If I didn’t try so many others on this evening, I would have got another.
