JorisPPattyn (4216), Antwerpen, Belgium Oct 2, 2003 Dark brown beer; slim, but persistent white head. Overwhelming nutty and oxidised, biscuity nose. Taste is brandy-like, heavy vinous taste, liqueurish, winegrape. Madeirisation in the right way, blending right in with the natural taste of the beer. Lots of esters, of course, lasting through the aftertaste. Unbelievable, heavy alcohol punch & burn in the mouthfeel, full bodied. Thanks to the alcohol, the beer keeps quite well, despite being aged a little bit, and the nose betraying some oxidation. Very vinous in character, like a true good English old ale or Barley Wine.
