2013-02-10. Crisp bright orange body, small off white head and lace. 3++ Nice fruity hoppy character in aroma, sort of tropical not quite mango or guava character. 7+ Flavour is similar, quite fruity, modest bitterness throughout. Hops gain a slight tea like quality in the finish. 7+ Average plus body suitable carbonation. On tap at Rhino Winter Festival, Toronto
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 blankboy (5140) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 14, 2013
Draught at Rhino Winter Beer Festival, Feb. 10. Pours a deep orange-amber with an average size diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma of hops, buttery caramel malt, fruit, grain and some vegetal notes. Slightly watery flavour is lightly hoppy and grainy along with caramel malt and a light to average bitter finish. Average bodied. Just O.K.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JoeMcPhee (7621) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 11, 2013
Deep amber pour - aroma is pretty tropical. A little bit of light mango and some guava. Very fruity. A touch of malt that stays out of the way mostly. The superior brew of the two .
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 solidfunk (1789) - Ontario, CANADA - FEB 10, 2013
A little sour for my tastes. Hops profile doesn’t exactly do well for style - or maybe I’m just unfamiliar with mosaic hops. Pours amber with decent head, lacing. Average carbonation, consistency. Dark amber colour. Finishes sour with slight dose of bitterness at very end. Definitely preferred the Belma version of this brew. On tap at Rhino Winterfest.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Sammy (7034) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 10, 2013
UPDATED: MAR 11, 2013 On tap(understated carbonation) at The Rhino Winter festival, unfiltered. Tropical fruit aroma, fruity apricot taste. Teh 38 IBU have an alpha kick and some sour notes, and this is at the old IPA hoppy palate kick, probably the hoppiest new beer at the fest today. Good taste and drinkability. Earthy.
