3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask to flute
Dark chocolate, a bit of coffee, and molasses. Deep black with a creamy and bubbly dark tan head. Coffee is the primary taste, some dark chocolate, and malts galore. Mouthfeel is light (for a porter) but very smooth and a bit creamy. Mmmmm...this is a good one even though coffee isn't my thing...too bad I have to quaff it quickly as its 6 minutes to last call.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
[bottle at BJCP exam, Ottawa, May, 2012]
Rich toasty aroma with hazelnuts, coffee, and detectable fruitiness.Complex. Clear, but nearly opaque ruddy dark brown under an eternal, tan foam. Complex flavour with roasted barley vanilla and bitter chocolate behind a rich, toasty nuttiness and molasses. Full body, moderate carbonation, sweet finish that does dry up a bit at the end.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the burger bar. Right off the bat i found this quite bitter for a porter.
Big roasted, burnt malts, light cocoa, and a big bitter bite. Yes i would agree this is robust a little low on the carb, but the palate didnt suffer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: APR 8, 2012 Smells like earthy hickory smoke that expands a lot on the first exhalation. There’s some coffee on the taste and earthy bitterness. Pours dark with mocha foam, high carbonation. A medium heavy body. Great beer, exceeded expectations. On tap at the Burger Bar.

I tried this beer on tap on February 23, 2012 at "C’est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a dark brown colour with a creamy tan coloured head. Aroma was roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, and some smoked wood. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with mild carbonation. Flavour is smoky with coffee, chocolate and caramel hints. A pretty good beer!
