3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
An unusual version of the style as it was way darker than expected. The flavour was unusual too - a delicious combination of Belgian beer and French wine. I can live with both.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Cellared for 2 1/2 years. Murky brown, mahogany with virtually no head. Sour aromas, funk, plenty of malt and stewed stone fruit. A lively sour element to the front and finish, but a strong caramel malt middle. The alcohol presents itself but is well balanced and appropriate. Very enjoyable

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Not sure on the low ratings of this. Thought it was pretty good. From the bottle cheers to the boob at good food and wine show. Pours dirty amber with a khaki head. Nose is full of spice, mild banana and a whopping amount of christmas cake fruits and sweetness. Absolutely chock full of raisin sweetness, plums and dates while brown sugar overlaps between them. Fair kick of spice too including liquorice and mild cinnamon. Quite tasty stuff

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a cloudy bright yellow with a small white head. Yeasty, spicy aroma that is reflected in the taste. Light bodied with high carbonation. Not much to this in terms of complexity, which is uncommon for a Beire de Garde. However is it refreshing and enjoyable, which makes it a nice alternative to some of the heavier of the style.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Muddy brown appearance and poured with a small head. Slightly sulphuric and a bit on the sour side.Dont really think that this is a Biere de Garde. If it is its a poor example of the style.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours nice deep brown with one finger head. Aroma is sweet malts with funk similar to a saison. Taste is sweet malt, yeast, some spice, dry finish with a light bitterness. Not overly complex but very enjoyable nonetheless.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle 750ml @Beer Hunters
Clear deep ruby color, small beige head. Aroma has some cellary notes, ginger, cinnamon, lots of berries (red currant). Medium-bodied. Very berryish, red currant and caramel. Feels Danish, not French!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy brown to yellow looks, with delicate head. Stingy zesty fruits and something else I can’t specify from the aroma. Taste has yeast, zesty fruits, some berries. Medium body and high carbonation. Interesting beer but I think I need to try this again to fully understand all the flavors in it.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
750ml bottle (Hilpea Hauki, Helsinki)
Slightly toffeeish aroma. Touch fizzy palate, almost watery. Dark roast, but the roast isn’t to the fore at all. No sign of the alcohol at all, but deep down, this beer isn’t doing it for me. Some toffee, some yeast, some snores.Do like the bitter bite in the inish, but it doesn’t cancel the fizziness of the carbonation. A touch yeasty. Unsatisfying. However, with the yeast it’s smoother. But still unsatisfying.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(Bottle, 0.75 l, at Hilpeä Hauki, 20131001) The beer poured reddish brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and almost white. Aroma had caramell, malts and mildly Belgian style yeast. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, caramell, Belgian style yeast, mildly earth and low bitterness. Afteraste was malty and bitter. Not a beer that I woudl categorise and a Bière de Garde but an easy one to drink.
