bluevegie (1742), Perth, Australia Oct 19, 2007 I think my taste buds are starting to like the more maltier beers again than the well hopped ones. So I enjoyed drinking this one though the better half didn’t. Sweet toffee aroma, dark amber body with a short lasting head and a nice mouthful of taste, good length of soft chewy caramel. eczematic (1153), Sydney, Australia Oct 13, 2007 a pleasant surprise - a pretty good biere de garde in the BJCP sort of stereotypically malty style. didnt keep a head but otherwise a good deep clear auburn hinting at a melanoidiny brew. in the mouth pleasantly fat and full chewy mailliard melanoidin and munich maltiness, but with some fruity acidity to wind it up. some interesting raspberry/pawpaw esters linger. the flavours are well integrated and seamless - seems like it’s a mature bottle but i dunno how old it is. solid. m_peve (28), Bolwarra, Australia Jul 4, 2007 Spicy hop and toffee aroma. Attractive clear ruby red appearance with little or no head ( though that may have been my glass). Flavour was mainly of malty sweetness (some chocolate) but with a hint of acidic fruit (raspberry??) at the finish. Medium mouthfeel. A good beer with warming alcohol at 7.5% motelpogo (4111), Plzen, Czech Republic Feb 24, 2007 bottled, brewtopia06. hazy brown with a lingering off-white head. disturbing aroma of popcorn and medicine. quite sticky, hints of raw sugar and no real yeast bite to cut through some of the custard flavour vanvenlo (784), Glen Iris, Australia Jan 31, 2007 22 Jul 2006 - Sweet malt and spicy hop aroma. Brown-red colour, suds lacing and OK head. Sweet fruit hop malt. Tangy sweet hop finish, with nice mouthfeel.
