COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer style hails from perhaps the world’s best know beer region, Bavaria. Bridge Road’s Brewer, Ben Kraus, traced his roots back to the land of beer and has researched this style in it’s homeland Germany. The beer is deep red to brown in colour, with a strong beige head. The nose instantly gives away the style, fruity, and clove like with plenty of fresh banana. On the pallet this cloudy beer is super smooth, with a soft roundness, an interesting blend of roasted malts with banana and clove and hint of bitterness. A dry roasted character lingers on your pallet until your next mouthful. A great beer for all palates making it a great one to share, as a starter or a accompaniment to lighter dishes.

750ml bottle. Pours dark red-brown with a loose off white head. Rather incongruous nose of burnt caramel, dark chocolate and cherries with a hint of smoke. I get none of the advertised banana and clove aromas. Taste is rather unpleasant and nothing like any dunkelweizen I have ever tasted with acidic vinegary notes and a dry bitter finish. Light-medium palate with rather flat mouthfeel for the style. There is something definitely not right here in my opinion. Considering that the price Down Under is comparable with the genuine product from Germany, you may as well stick with the originals.

750ml bottle. Tar like cola colour with a big thick hefeweizen head that you come to expect. Aromas are roast malt, caramel, toffee and some smoke. Nutty finish after a tart ininital flavour in the mouth. Pretty good over all.

Whatever "This" is, it is not Dunkelweizen, sure it is dark in appearance, too dark I feel, yes malty too...I liken this beer more a porter than a "weizen" . It only sports the barest of the clove and banana that the maker boasts of, yet I agree that it is smooth...Not worth the bucks their asking. sorry.

Tap at Biero. Pours black with a large head. Nose shows loads of toasty malt with some banana in the background. Too toasty. Favours mirror the aroma almost perfectly: toasty, bready malt and banana. Finishes abruptly. Again, too toasty. Body seems light, almost watery.

Bottle, Feb 11 release. Very dark brown with a large light tan head. Cola caramel aroma with vanilla, cloves, plums and banana. A little roasted malt underneath. Good gentle bready mouthfeel. Light slightly smoky roast and cola taste is moderately sweet, followed by some fruit and spices and grassy finishing hop bitterness. There’s a tiny bit of wheaty sourness as it warms a tad. Chocolate is there at the end too.

Hazy brown amber colour with a dissapearing beige head. Wheat aroma and taste with a suprising smoke overtone that stays on the palette. Not really a Hefeweizen, but not bad either.

Bottle 750ml. Nice taste, but a bit weak in the palate. Aromas of wheat and caramel. Flavour is sweet, with light bitterness, and average-lasting. Velvety in the palate, and medium body. Brown colour, creamy long-lasting head.

Not bad. Looks really good then most dunkels tend to. Lively tan / caramel with a touch of haze. The beer is very easy to drink with soft milk chocolate, subtle roast, and just a hint of astringency to finish, the latter for good measure. Fairly straightforward but it worked quite well. As good as many German efforts commonly available in the import market.
