The Saison is a classic Belgian style, not often seen outside of its homeland. It was traditionally brewed by farmers and their workers as a beverage to consume during the summer months. Bridge Road Brewers have crafted their own Saison to add to their Chevalier range. This beer is quite unique, light straw in colour, with a tight bright white head. Aromas are dominated by esters and phenolic characters, owing to the Saison yeast strain, which also gives the beer its characteristic tart, dry and acidic profile. This citrus character combined with grassy hop flavours make this a great food beer, try it with anything from seafood to blue cheese.

Tasted this somewhat hastily but enjoyed it enough to warrant another try. Reminded me of Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen, which is a good sign. Similar phenol characters, similar light cloudiness (more sediment - roll it next time?), strong head.

750 ml bottle. Close to clear golden body with a medium sized white head. Mild aroma of pale malt, slightly fruity and a bit spicy. Flavor is what I call typical Saison Ė not easy to describe, not particular dominating in any direction, feels pretty average until you give it some time and get a bit deeper into the experience. Soft pale malt, mild fruitiness, spicy yeast, some pepper, low bitterness. Fine balanced body and medium aftertaste. Nothing extraordinary really, but quite pleasant anyway.

Citrus and yeasty aroma. Has sour edge. Let's you think it might be Belgian Blonde then a pinch of bitterness with pepper, even mashed banana. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, 75cl. It pours an almost clear one, golden in color, and with a lasting, two finger white head. Some curtains. Thereís pale malts and piney, peppery hops. Citrus peel too, some banana and a tad too much yeast. Itís dry on the palate, with a nice carbonation level. Medium body. Pale malts, green apples, banana, lemon and a pleasant bitterness. Fruity, lightly bitter finish. Nothing extraordinary going on here, but itís an honest and nice beer. 131212

750 ml bottle. Bottled on 04/04/13. Tuulensuu, Tampere, Finland. Hazy yellow colour with a small white head. Caramel sweetness, spices, yeast and malt in a delicate aroma. The flavour is fruity bitterness, yeast and malt. No delicacy. Drinkable but not that great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml into tulip glass. Beautiful golden orange colour with medium carbonation. Aroma of field mushrooms & straw. Taste is very earthy & funky but delicious. Will definitely have this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle (Kuikka, Helsinki)
Scarily pale, but persistent tight head and haze to cloudiness makes me happy to give it a 3. Wheaty aroma at first, some slight orval funk, banana later. Crisp palate, carbonation quite harsh. Initial retronasals hint at solvents, like a heady weizenbock. But itís not heavy or sweet. In fact itís almost thin and light. Thatís aided by the wheatiness, which is everywhere in the taste. Nice fatty hops in the finish, nicely bitter tingle. Not a cookie-cutter saison, not the typical wyelabs taste. But thatís because of the wheat, this has way more wheat than the usual cookie cutter saisons brews. Very easy drinker. Alcohol not obvious apart from the inevitable zigzagging of my walk later. Possible underrate - even 3.2 would seem a bit low. However there were minor flaws in each aspect, even though there were positives with each aspect too.

(Bottle, 0.75 l, at Hilpeš Hauki, 2013101) The beer poured pale golden and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had spices, sourness, pepper and fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, spices, Belgian style yeast, malts, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste was spicy, hoppy and bitter. A tasty saison.
