COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Saison is a classic Belgian style, not often seen outside of its homeland. It was traditionally brewed by farmers and their workers as a beverage to consume during the summer months. Bridge Road Brewers have crafted their own Saison to add to their Chevalier range. This beer is quite unique, light straw in colour, with a tight bright white head. Aromas are dominated by esters and phenolic characters, owing to the Saison yeast strain, which also gives the beer its characteristic tart, dry and acidic profile. This citrus character combined with grassy hop flavours make this a great food beer, try it with anything from seafood to blue cheese.

An excellent example of the style. Spicey, yeasty, grassy nose with a suitably dry and tart mouthfeel. Loooked fantastic in a big tulip glass all nice and hazy with a huge rocky head. Truly wonderful.

Both on tap at brewery and in 750ml bottle. This is a very classy and sophisticated effort. Has sour aroma and Hooegarden type appearance. Very full-bodied taste, very citrusy and tart. Great lingering aftertaste. I’m looking forward to having a taste of a more matured bottle (if I can resist the temptation to drink it early).

750 ml. Quality nose...sweet grass and some funky earth with a really nice yeasty background. Taste is just fantastic, tart and funky, nice crisp hop character and a really clean dry finish. I immediately wanted more. Really solid effort.

750ml heavy glassed bottle. Cloudy orange pour with a medium white head that laces scantily. Nose of bread, yeasts, oranges, peppers and grassy hops. Flavour is fine Belgian Saison with a smooth easy drinkability. It is thinner bodied than Saison Dupont. A commendable Aussie attempt at this difficult style.

Cloudy blond with a thick head. Peppery aroma with light fruits and nice yeastiness. Very fruity on the palate with gentle spiciness, slightly creamy malts and maybe a hint of acidity late. Nice pale malt character and good balance. One of the more interesting Aussie microbrews I’ve come across.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2010 Bottle. Pours bright orange with a large creamy white head. Smells of orange zest and cloves with light doughy yeast and some funk. Taste is sweet and tart. Finishes tart with punchy pepper/ clove/ ginger. Good blue cheese beer. Eminently quaffable with character and a little intrigue. [3.8]

Tap. Had a bottle a few weeks ago and wouldn’t change what I said previously. On tap it was missing all of the tartness and most of the spice: it was an OK fruity Belgian ale around 3.3. Leaving the rating as per the bottle.

Cloudy straw pour. The funky saison yeast is apparent in the aroma but there’s also plenty of mango, banana, cloves and pineapple. A mildly sour, bitter finish complements the fruity phenolic characters that wouldn’t seem out of place in a hefeweizen. Very refreshing and very easy drinking; a perfect gateway beer to more esoteric Belgian styles like saisons and lambics.

On tap at Mikkeller. Hazy golden. Slightly acidic fruitiness, hints of spices. Good dryness and refreshing fruitiness. A very good saison.

15-MAR-2013, bottle @Sonni, @Ulkløbben tasting. Hazy yellow with high lasting white creamy head. Yest aroma with orange peel, banana, corn, hay. Oily, a bit thin. High class brew. Easy drinking. Fine.
