On tap at the brewpub. This was explained to me as a British ESB and it shared those characteristics. It also has not the colour but the sourness of some browns. Served fresh and not too cold. There is a full mouthfeel. It had an orangey colour with white head. A bit of funkeyness in the aroma. Could use more hops, too malty.

On Tap at the Brewpub. Nice roasted malt aroma, with a touch of hops. Some caramel malts. Semi dry finish.

Ungstrup (23960) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 16, 2005
A hazy amber beer with a small off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and some hops, as well as some black peber. The flavor is very roasted - almost smoked, as well as nicely hoppy, which gives a very dry bitter end, but the body is thin. This beer really grew on me - it started out very boring - with a 5 in flavor.

Rastacouere (5920) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 28, 2005
Clear amber, light off-white head. Aroma of toasted, but faint caramel malts bringing on mellow earthy nuances. A bit rooty on the palate with the hops being close to unnnoticeable, rather weak sweet and leafy finish. Thin mouthfeel, airy and biting around the edges.

Grapefruit-citrus hops are mild with some supporting sweet malt in the nose. Clear copper colour with low white head that recedes rapidly to ring. Grapefruit hops flavour balances with caramel malt sweetness, some fair fruity esters and a light finishing bitterness. Medium-light body with low carbonation. Sampled at the brewpub with Oakes, Rastacouere and Ungstrup.

(More of a non-descript ale than a scottish one, imho)...Light caramel verbiage in orange foliage...Splintered sweetness hindered by adamant grassy hops...A slice of nut bread later, a moment has passed by unnoticed...

Hazy dark amber. Aroma is toffeeish, yeasty and slightly smoky. Palate is woody, with bread crusty yeast, earth and almond skin. Interesting brew - not sure what to make of it, but it's interesting.
