Today’s forecast...Windy! A Belgian-style wheat ale brewed with honey and spices, a great beer for quenching the thirst of Chicago. Windy City Wheat swirls in the mouth with a pleasant sweetness and a zesty, orange-citrusy fruitness settling nicely into the honey tones.

1/11/13. 12oz bottle from Binny’s in Bolingbrook. Cloudy light golden pour with a small off-white head that fades. Very light citrus and soft wheat in the aroma. Light citrus and spice in the flavor with a touch of wheat, bland hoppiness, and a sort of vomity/acid aspect. Meh.

Cloudy, light gold appearance. Orange peel, though the other Belgian additions aren’t apparent. This is really an American wheat through and through. Picked it up while visiting Chicago with Dave in 2012.

12 oz bottle pours a hazy yellow with small white head that doesn’t last long. Smells like a Belgian White should. Aroma has lemon, grass, honey, and light spices (coriander?). Body is light to medium, with very little carbonation. Tastes sweet but mouthfeel is flat. Not bad, but I won’t seek this again. Stevens Point brews some better ones under their own name for less $

Wheat, clove and baking spices with a little herbal hops. Light bodied with a thin texture. Lively carbonation but a very short finish. Overall, not bad. I’ll drink it, but i wont seek it out.

Initial is lighter end of the fold, some apple, pear, kiss of banana and citrus meet bready and grainy malts, straw, gentle coriander. Some orange rind/oils with gentle spice, yeast, more coriander. Apples, bread,a touch papery. A bit underbodied, backend offers some spice and apples, some cidery elements, coriander, oranges, flaked wheat, paper. Nose is a bit odd, a bit underbodied and an odd cidery feel at times. Meh.
