Today’s forecast...Windy! A Belgian-style wheat ale brewed with honey and spices, a great beer for quenching the thirst of Chicago. Windy City Wheat swirls in the mouth with a pleasant sweetness and a zesty, orange-citrusy fruitness settling nicely into the honey tones.

Bottle. Banana, citrus, wheat, coriander. Cloudy yellow with a moderate white head. Yeasty wheat and citrus flavor with coriander and bitterness in the finish. Light carbonated body.

Pours cloudy, lemonade/gold with a tall white head. Scent is wheat, spice, citrus... Taste is sweet but sharp lemon/orange. Wheat. Slightly tart to sour as it goes. Ok...but a little too little of everything.

Refreshing with a good taste but a little mild and could use a little more flavor. Would probably have again.

Bottle. Orange zest, coriander, and wheat malt aroma. Hazy pale yellow color with small head. Slightly sweet lemon, coriander and light wheat malt flavor. Light body. Not bad but wish it had more malt flavor.

Obtained this one from the Binny’s build your own 6er rack, so it might be a little bit older (not the freshest). It had a dark yellow almost amber color with a fast disappearing white head. Notes of bread/cereal malt, a little grainy followed by not the most citrusy hops. This one was a little average. By the way, mine says it was brewed in Stevens Point (contracted out to Point?)

Aroma is citrus/orange, wheat grain and spices. The flavor is yeast, wheat and mild sweetness balanced by the spices. Not nasty in flavor, this was a decent witbier.

Light-hazed golden body under a fast white head. Aroma is lemon zest atop pale malt and sourdough yeast. Bready flavor with toasted nuts and a sour finish. Feels like someone threw some ingredients together then picked a style when it was done rather than setting out to create a solid Wit. Chicago shouldn’t have to fess-up to this lackluster product (which was actually brewed in Wisconsin). ~~~~~~ 6 pk./12 oz., Kenwood Liquors, Oak Lawn, IL

Bottle from Binny’s $10 build-a-6er rack. Slightly hazy gold pour, thin layer of foam with some coating on the glass. Spicy wit smell, perhaps a bit too much spice when they should have trusted a wit yeast to do the job. Taste has some wheat beer quality to it. But there’s just a hint of soap at first. Then a standard wheat beer taste that just sits there. Well, I won’t give up hope, I just hope they can tune this better once they have their own brewery.

Pale yellow pour with ahead that disappeared during the pour. Aroma was wheat and a little lemon. Taste was wheat, lemon and a little watery.
