Today’s forecast...Windy! A Belgian-style wheat ale brewed with honey and spices, a great beer for quenching the thirst of Chicago. Windy City Wheat swirls in the mouth with a pleasant sweetness and a zesty, orange-citrusy fruitness settling nicely into the honey tones.

Bottle from Binny’s $10 build-a-6er rack. Slightly hazy gold pour, thin layer of foam with some coating on the glass. Spicy wit smell, perhaps a bit too much spice when they should have trusted a wit yeast to do the job. Taste has some wheat beer quality to it. But there’s just a hint of soap at first. Then a standard wheat beer taste that just sits there. Well, I won’t give up hope, I just hope they can tune this better once they have their own brewery.

Chilled 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Cloudy orange with small white head. Aroma is over-ripe orange, medium body, medium carbonation, and good thin small-bubble lacing. Taste is over-ripe orange.

Pours clear golden with a thick eggshell head that doesn’t stick around for long. Wheaty aroma has an undertone of butterscotch and a yeasty hint. Flavor is wheaty with yeast and butterscotch hints, not strong but palatable. Texture has little fizz and average body at best. Still, an OK brew. Have it with a meal.

[Bottle] Pours a honey color with a bit of cloudiness to it. Light nose of wheat malts and hints of metal. Similar flavors of wheat, lemon zest and mild coriander. Still getting hints of metal in the flavor. Light in body and a bit grainy. OK overall.

I’ll refrain from making comments about the term "Chi-Town" this time around. The ale has a clear yellow body with slowly rising bubbles supporting a three-finger white head. The note is wheaty, bready, with subtle traces of spices. The flavor is much the same, a wheat ale with hints of spices and a slight orange rind bitterness. I enjoy an occasional Wit, but will pass on this INO one in the future.

12 oz. bottle poured to a Czech-pils glass, showing a cloudy, golden color, with some good persistence to both the frothy, white head, and the spots & patches of lacing. The aroma started with a fleeting metallic hint, then some peachy sweetness, maybe a hint of spice, and light graininess that I can only describe as earthy & toasty. The taste presented moderate, citrusy & rindy bitterness, and a bit of tartness that both had some lingering qualities to them. Medium to light bodied, with perky carbonation, a fairly crisp finish, and okay sessionability.

I think this oils over rated. This is one of the worst wheat beers I have had. Smells skunky and tastes wheat. Has a strange finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
