4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Braudog (5025) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - JAN 9, 2005
Kyle has now replaced his old pale ale with an IPA standard on tap. They call this the "Big IPA," and it’s better than the IPA I remembered originally rating in Jan 04, although I’m not 100% sure that it’s a new recepe. This struck me as a more American IPA ... big and fruity, orange-red and nice and hoppy, but it a fruity way.

Love the smell though it doesn’t last long. This beer maintains the head better than almost any I’ve ever seen, including Belgians. Some pretty good hops in the flavor, but a little too much malt. A like it a lot, just don’t love it. A very bitter finish.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 beerlist (23) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - FEB 8, 2005
UPDATED: AUG 21, 2005 Nice hoppy aroma. Bright orange in color, nice head. Citrusy hop flavor predominates, but there’s a pretty decent malt flavor backing it up. A very enjoyable American IPA. Followup: Think the brewer’s hopped it up a bit recently, this stuff is really tasting nice of late.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Immy (1955) - Virginia Beach, USA - JUN 30, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Clear dark gold with a white head. Big citrus and herbal hop nose, mild caramel. Big hop bite comes immediately, citrusy with a touch of pepper-like notes. Slightly resinous and orange. Amazingly drinkable and a solid brew all around!!
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 BückDich (5467) - McCall, Idaho, USA - JUN 13, 2006
Sampled at the NABA 06 Fest: Excellent head and lacing. I never got a chance to see the color as the head never dispersed and these opaque white plastic tasting cups are certainly subpar. Nose is super hoppy, citrusy and fruity. Flavor is pleasant, nice dry hopped character. Full body, has that sweet candy cane like balance to complement the nice hop resins and oils floating on top of the beer.
4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 kimcgolf (872) - Dacula, Georgia, USA - MAR 22, 2006
22 oz. draft at the 4 Queens. Very tasty with good long finish. Probably would have enjoyed the taste even more had I not been smoking cigars in the casino all day. Heck of a deal too at $4.00 for 22 oz. mug
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - JUN 13, 2006
A great little IPA, with a very evident citrus hop nose, and a very sweet candi sugar maltiness. Velvety rich mouthfeel, with alot of texture and a really nice balance of flavors. Finshes clean and bitter
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - JAN 15, 2006
Growler @ Kp’s Cellar. Slightly hazed amber with a medium off-white head. Moderate hop aroma with citrus and lemon flesh. Sweet sugar. Flavor of sweet lemon flesh and bitter lemon rind. Long bitterness on the finish. Dry with a medium body. My favorite out of the IPas on the KP growler night.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 paulmetzger (154) - Pocatello, Idaho, USA - JUN 4, 2006
Mountain Brewers Beer Fest 2006. Lack of appearance judging reflects opaque plastic sampling cup.
Great dry hopping in this IPA. Heavy pine and grapefruit from the hops balances grains that are a bit on the straw side.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - APR 14, 2006
UPDATED: OCT 4, 2008 2008-09-08, draught at the brewpub, 7-4-7-5-15=38 Hazy amber color. It has a good hop aroma, not too strong, fruity and resiny. Medium body, with a strong toffee flavor and extreme hopping, very resiny, aggressive, a bit fruity too. Very good.
2007-10-02, draught at the brewpub, 7-4-8-5-16=40 Cloudy golden color; creamy head. Hop aroma, very grassy, wet field soil, manure. Good body strength, smooth mouthfeel, strong malt flavor (like a good Pils) overwhelmed by a powerful hopping, with a lot of hop oils and some resins. Extremely long and strong final. A bit strange but very good, midway between an American and English IPA: stronger hopping and body, but not so fruity. Fuggles touch too!
2006-03-26, draught at the brewpub, 7-4-7-4-15=37 Golden color. Fruity hoppy aroma. Good body, malty, sweet, round, and a good amount of aromatic and resiny hops. Good.
