COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
OG 1038. Excellent quaffing ale - light and refreshing. Designed as an aperitif or as a drink on its own. Relatively light in colour, with a creamy smoothness, it has a good definition on the palate and a refreshing, cleansing finish.
When this beer was launched in 1980 it was the first commercially brewed new beer in Buckinghamshire since the war. The beer takes its name from the brewery.

[Cask at brewery shop] Slight biscuity malt aroma and flavour, but unpleasantly bitter. Smooth and easy to drink, but in the end very bland and rather watery. Not great.

Cask at King’s Head, Aylesbury. Clear brownish amber. Caramelly nose. Mid sweet with light-medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Firm and lightly caramelly with notes of spice and hay. Mid bitter finish. Solid bitter.

Cask gravity at GBBF 2010. Copper colour with lasting beige head. Some caramel and lasting biscuit flavour. It’s a tasty session bitter with a touch of herby hop. Decent.

All Chiltern beers have a particular flavour and this is no exception. The brewery never used to use much in the way of aroma hops and all hops were added at beginning of boil, which I guess is still the case. Hence flavour profile a bit of a flat line. Still a decent session beer though.

Cask conditioned at The Kings Head, Aylesbury, Bucks. Amber with white head. Quite a flowery aroma and flavour, sweetish, lightly hopped with a tartish fruity back note. Struggled against the Pearl I had previously. Ordinary.

Cask, gravity at Luton BF ’10. Amber with a small white head. Very faint sweet aroma. Taste was grassy with a mid bitter finish. Not at all bad, if a bit one dimensional.

’Bitter’ isnt my style . Thiz waz bought @ the brewery for me and a take away in a container. Not much to reflect . Subdued but i got hints of customs of apple and dryness. Sure iz malty and caramelly. Go figure.

A Mes rate: Gravicask @ Reading Beer Festival. Run of the mill bitter with very little character but drinkable enough. Really I just can’t be bothered.
