leaparsons (3878), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Apr 7, 2008 Bottle. Hazy amber with a small head. Aromas are sweet toffee and citrus with floral notes. Earthy with soft spices. Flavours are weetabix malts with fudge. Dry with juicy citrus. Some pear and chocolate. Has a good bitter finish. Fin (2164), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Mar 25, 2006 Bottle, 25-03-06 picked up a mixed case from the brewery on Thursday, slowly getting through them. Amber coloured easy drinking beer, hoppy nose, better than the 300’s and Porter but still only decent. lachesis (759), St Idesbald, Belgium Nov 13, 2004 Nice orange-amber color with small airy head. This beer has a light lemon like accent in the nose with a faint hint of fresh ginger and a bit of maltyness. The taste is not very impressive, it has some maltyness, some nuts and a citrussy freshness. It ends with a faint vegetal bitterness. Best whin you drink it cold. eczematic (1153), Sydney, Australia Aug 2, 2002 Good, uncomplicated pale ale. Pale golden-red and very clear. Lots of fuggles in nose and flavour, and a bit of nut. Light and easy to sink. But as Nuffield says, not too complex. Nuffield (2536), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jun 29, 2002 A good beer. Rather fizzy start, with a loosely formed, large, and rapidly-dissipating head. But it kept its body well through the whole pint. Good hoppy flavor, lingering bitter finish--all very standard. Not exceedingly complex (typical of this brewery), but well put together. I can’t say I’m keen on the Cromwellian sympathies in the dedication of this one (as Oxford, where I write this, was a bastion of Royalist support), but at any rate....
