COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Occasional. Mostly available bottled (filtered).
An earl amongst ales! A beautifully balanced, single varietal, golden harvest ale. Brewed in the style of a harvest ale, this beer has an impeccable pedigree. Premium quality malt, with the aromatic fruitiness of only a single famous English (Fuggles)hop for balance, results in a beer of the finest classical style. Floral on the nose, beautiful hop and full-mash malt characteristics on the palate, combine in a memorable finish.
First mashed-in and subsequently launched by the Earl of Buckinghamshire, a direct descendant of the beer’s patriotic namesake. Brewed commemorating the brewery’s 15th anniversary.

Bottle @ pre-GBBF shindig, August 2009. Old bottle. Amber colour with a slight haze. Fairly dry. Quite earthy hops and touches of nutty malt. Very traditional in style. Has held up reasonably well but definitely showing signs of age. Flagged for re-rate.

Bottled at chriso’s. Hazy deep golden. Sweaty hops covering bready malt. Sweet and firm with medium body. Cookies and hay, salty bitterish finish. Relaxed.

A Mes rate. Bottle at Duff’s.
Clean gold with a decent white head. Smells of arse. Tastes of well used socks. Comically bad. Honestly, I can’t drink it. Must be off.

[500ml bottle from brewery shop] Amber; moderate, slowly collapsing off-white head. Soft carbonation with occasional prickly bits. Smell on opening the bottle is fresh, fruity, citric and zingy. The taste is rather a disappointment in comparison. There’s some biscuit-y malt but with cardboard overtones. A hint of spiciness comes through before a rather bitter finish. It’s OK, but I really wish my second-closest brewery could do better than this...
