COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly available bottle conditioned. Occasionally on cask.
A de-luxe bottle conditioned porter launched to celebrate our 20th anniversary brewed with carefully balanced proportions of dark malts including chocolate malt.
A very smooth, rich, smoky, ruby coloured porter with a generous charge of Fuggles and Goldings hops which provide a wonderfully balanced aroma. The Lieutenancy is one of the most ancient Offices in England dating from 1535 in Buckinghamshire and this beer was launched by Sir Nigel Mobbs, Lord Lieutenant for Buckinghamshire, who charged the coppers with choice hops.

A Sim rate: Chocolate and coffee in the aroma. It’s roasty & slightly malty. Apple. Toffee. Decent head. Decent lace. Much better aroma than flavour. Slightly metallic tasting. Where’s all the roast gone!?

0.33 l bottle from GBBF 2011. Hazy dark brown color. Fruity and chocolatey aroma with cola. Nutty and chocolatey flavor with licorice and meat broth. Pretty lame roast character.

330ml bottle. Pours dark amber with a large head. Aroma is over ripe bananas and dark fruity malt. Taste has dark fruits to start and a strong coffee finish.

Flaske 0,5l spandert av og delt med Rune under rateseanse hjemme hos ham 13 Okt 11. Dyprød/brun med et høyt luftig skum som varer. Masse skum henger igjen på glasset. Vakkert! God, svakt fruktig aroma. Smaken er mørk frukt. Avslutningen er tørket frukt. Et godt øl men mer en traditional/old ale enn en porter. KI=5 (RAIB-BarGBBF 2011)

330ml bottle bought from The Real Ale In a Bottle Bar at GBBF ’11. A bottle conditioned ale that comes in a nice bottle with a dark blue neck. Top score for its appearance; offers a bubbly, solid off-white head that stays throughout, and left a good amount of lacework behind. Ruby-red body. Aroma of roasted, earthy malts. Sweet and roasted flavour of caramel malts joined by hints of dark fruits. Rounded bitter ending. Ashy dry. A tasty porter, without being outstanding (shared with Finn, 13.10.2011).

Purchased bottle directly from the chiltern brewery in wendover. Pours a hazy mahogany colour, light head, aroma of christmas cake, brandy, and raisins. Tastes strongly of liquorice, with a dry clean bisculty finish, and no bitterness. balance is probably on the sweet side, but makes a very interesting drink.

330ml Bottle - Brown with some red tinges. Blackcurrant, dried fruit and malt in the aroma. Roasted, chocolatey and slightly sweet taste with notes of roasted malt and coffee. Almost a year out of date, but it’s still drinking well.

Bottle at home in London. Pours brown with a foamy, light tan head. Aroma is light cocoa, semi-dark malts and faint berries. Medium sweet flavor, some dark malts, mild roast, hints of alcohol. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Mostly sweet finish, light earthy bitterness, subtle roast. Very average overall.

Bottle bought at the Royal Farm Shop in Windsor, Berks 18 months ago, BBE 4/9/10 on the label. A dark brown/ruby red coloured pour with a large beige head on top. Fruity, caramel aroma. Tastes of dark fruit, malty, caramel, spice, quite sweet, a hint of rum. Love the bottle and the beer inside is quite good too.

500ml bottle - at ChrisO’s - thanks!
6 Sweet roasty aroma, quite sharp
4 Reddy brown, small head
6 Surprisingly bitter hoppy taste, malts in the background.
3 Soft palate, carbonation low
13 Some nice malts, some marmite. Quite a curious one, but not unpleasant.

From the Bottle at Chris O’s, Kensal Rise 06/08/2010 Big fruit aroma. Mid brown coloured a little rich on the palate and strong in alcohol with a hint of dryness in a bitter malt finish.
