3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Golden body with a nice persistent white head. Not too different from the triple, just a bit hoppier and with a strange bubblegum taste. I think the abv could have been hidden in a better way to make it more pleasant to drink

75 cl bottle from Systembolaget, ordered by bottle from customer servicer in the store.
BB 2015, sampled on September 22, 2012
Hazy yellow color, very big white head. Sweet, malty, phenoels, yeast, "Belgian malt" scent. smells wonderful, gave it a 9 first, but no, it has to be 10 in the end. Malty, phenoles, spices, alcohol taste. Sweet finish. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, low bitterness.
Very very nice this one, think I might buy some more. Could come in a smaller bottle though.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A zesty, sweeter version of its white brethren. Pinch less hops too. Pours a gentle pale yellow color with orange hue. Nice white foam head. Aroma of that nice Belgian yeast, banana and zest. Can smell the earthiness. Sweet fluffy taste with gentle hops and nice zest. Banana on the backend. Some caramel hidden in their. I’d still go white. But this is well done by Chimay.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
75 cl. corked and caged bottle split by two. Not the biggest fan of the Chimay although they are certainly not bad and the refterbeer is pretty damn good. Still any new trappist beer is still a happening. Bit of an odd bottle I feel, it is somewhat too transparent it feels and the green contrasts oddly with it but ok. It pours a bright golden with a fluffy white head. Smell is quite floral, esters, citrus, light banana, triple yeast, some white sugar, ça va. Taste is greatly influenced by the huge carb, this far too carbonated my dear and tastes a bit too much of cleaning products, although it dabbles as well in bitter herbs and fake citrus, rather herbal with some esters thrown in there, spices, bitter zest in the finish, small flourishes of banana in the beginning and an overriding weird spice-riddled triple yeast strain. Frankly a bit too much carb, cleaning products, manageable but not all that, that is for sure.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Appearance is golden like hay, nice white head that retains itself nicely after a few minutes. The aroma is very pleasant, slight hints of honey or candied sugar, and then even fainter notes of apricot or peach. The hoppy florals are herby and spicy, and nicely pronounced with each whiff.
My first taste cleared the palate. Alcohol was very noticeable but then faded. I was a little sad I didn’t notice anything else. Next drink, I really got the spices, particularly cardamom, possibly also coriander. With each following sip, the high alcohol level made itself known then tried to mask itself under the spices. In the end, it failed to balance the alcohol well enough.
The mouth feel was excellent, bordering medium to full bodied. The bittering hops fought until the end with the other flavors and I was left with the finish of a complex and not altogether pleasing aftertaste.
Fun to try, not worth the 13.5 euro I spent.
