Bottle from Belgian Beer Shop.com. Colour: first clear golden, at the end of the bottle hazy. The head is slightly off white, soapy, moderately stable with nice lacing. The aroma is pretty amazing and unique, filled with fruits (banana, pineapple, orange, mango) and floral notes. It’s sweet with licorice, spicy and the hops also are clearly present. This is one of the most complex smells I’ve ever experienced. The taste afterwards is a bit of a dissappointment but nevertheless very good: yeasty, fresh, bitter sweet and fruity. It has got a medium dry aftertaste; the finish makes me think of champagne. Alcohol presence is detectable but not too overwhelming. Overal: this is a complex and unique beer that’s very different from the other Chimay beers.

Special edition from Chimay. Well worth the effort! Nicely crafted. Picked from an outlet in Belgium.. Nice tart aroma of hay and licorice. Taste of summer meadow with some alcohol dryness. This is a treasure!

A Chimay unlike any other. A Trappist yeast, very fresh smelling. A big head and lace. Bubble gum and fruity tasting, a little dry in the finish.Above average mouthfeel. A quality Belgian ale through and through.

First pour is crystal clear with sparkly bubbles floating to the top, a massive white pillowy cap floats on top.....................so long lasting. Spicy wheat aroma, hints of banana.......CLOVE!!!!! Banana BOMB! Wow!! Big flavour, maybe a touch to much heat in the taste. So very tasty but maybe a touch unbalanced. Powdery with wheat, clove, other spices, touch of a perfume in the finish. Time for a second pour..........Beer got very cloudy complete with a giant nipple cap. Taste got sharper but some how more balanced at the same time. Do I detect a touch of lemon zest? YES, YES I DO. Ginger is really showing through now that the beer has warmed. I like this beer but its not completely wowing me.

Bottled. Golden colour with creamy head. Flowery nose with notes of chewing gum. Low on the phenols but a dash of coriander. Triple like character to the beer with a bitter alcohol touch in the finish. Well attenuated as always with Chimay, yet full bodied. Good balance.

750 c&c from Beverages 4 Less in Santee, CA. Opened with a good strong effusion of gas. Pours hazy dark gold with a creamy/foamy white head. Aroma of malt and slightly spicy hop. Full bodied, thinning as the carb leaves. Flavor is quite floral with light malt and some standard Belgian herb/spice. And fruity. Rather sophisticated and tasty.
