Sampled side by side by side with the other chimays. Very similar in to the blue label. Smells of alcohol and perfume. Raisin and plum and the typical cardboardy yeast strain. Maybe this will get better with age the same way that the blue does. But its not all that amazing right now.

Shared with a friend last July. Bottle dated 1862-2012. Big cork pop. Aroma of bread yeast, lime, lemon rind, banana marangue. Significant carbonation and big mouthfeel. Flavor of black pepper, bread yeast, funky esters. Overall big, complex, very flavorful and rich.

@ Silenzi: en kryddig men lite spritig doft. Kryddig men ändå len smak och en kanske lite för het eftersmak. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from unknown source. Pours yellow with an of pillowy white foam. Has a bit of perfumed ness on the nose. A bit of crisp apple on the tongue. Hides its alcohol very well. Quaffable but not really exciting me.

Bottle from ?? - pours cloudy golden with a thick, pillowy head. Aroma is biscuit and booze, not much of the added spices. Overall, solid.

Bottled, large sample. Slight hazy golden color, short frothy white head. Aroma of orange, tangerine, citrus, slight spicy yeast. Very fruity, much more fruity than the original. Quite sweet in taste, alcohol is hardly noticeable. Not that dry. Quite nice. I read a lot of people thought it was very spicy, but my bottle was way more fruity than spicy (and Im glad for that!).

Très bonne bière blonde à 10°, consistante et au goût prononcé, puissant, particulier et agréable légèrement citronné, peu amère. Mousse fine, tenue raisonnable. Couleur jaune pâle, claire. Bière pour apéritif, vite rassasiante. Bouteille assez jolie, couleur ambre.

From notes: Pours clear straw color with a 2-finger off-white head. Aroma of honey and earthy yeast with notes of grass and spice. Body is medium, with a mild thickness and a lightly astringent finish. Flavor has a grassy note mixed with earthy yeast, and a light spice note. Perhaps a touch of citrus also.

Bottle from Systembolaget, bought in September 2012. 109 SEK for the bottle. Hazy golden/yellow with a firm white head. Sweet with quite a lot of spices, mostly cardemom and coriander. Also malt, toffee, some lime and dried fruit. Not bad but a glas was enough.
