COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

750ml bottle, from Dutch’s. Bottle has a newer label, reads L14-605. Enjoyed from my Chimay goblet (fits two pours precisely btw, with perfect space in the glass for the head). Up front, awesome dark fruit aroma, some chocolate, mild spice. Very satisfyingly rich. Totally hazy ruby red / brown color. Creamy thin off-white head, with good retention. Leaves some ropes and good splotches of lace. Looks great in the glass. Some good mild herbal flavors. Vanilla. Hazelnut. Fig. Bigger body, very nice full feel. Mildly chewy. Smooth, creamy mildly soft lighter to moderate carbonation - not over carbonated though, like many other belgians. Moderate-plus sweet taste, satisfyingly rich, but never cloying. Nice amount of dryness. Lighter to moderate bitterness. Touch of pleasant warmth on the finish. I can’t believe I haven’t tried this up until now. Absolutely fantastic, will definitely remember this one. Surpasses the hype. Fantastic to enjoy with my sandwich (sweetness is a touch more noticeable without the food). Finished the bottle much easier than I expected to. Glad it was a 750ml.

Dark brown colour with little orange head. Aroma of, caramel, raisins, herbs, dark fruits. The same is the taste also with dark fruits, little presence of vanilla. Alcohol is very well hidden. Very drinkable.

My first and one of my favorite Belgian Strong Ales. Poured into a chalice or tulip, the dark mahogany and tan thick head could not be more appealing. Aroma of toffee and coffee malt mixed with ripe fruits, plums and raisins. A moderate, chewy, mouth feel that finishes with slight alcohol, raisin, and apple undertones.

Love this beer. Had been drinking the white recently and thought how good it was but this one is even better.

Flaska frĺn SB. Mörkt bärnstensfärgad med vitt skum. Doft av jäst och karamell. Lätt munkänsla med lite värmande alkohol. Karamell, jäst och russin i smaken.

What can I say that hasn't already been said; a great Belgian, a classic. Beautiful mahogany color with a very light brown head, nice lacing. Caramel and raisin favors with a slightly warm finish. I probably drank this too cold right out of the cooler.
