Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Bottle from Tesco. Dark and bubbly with big airy head, which quickly disappears. Aroma massively fruity with yeast, grapes, roses, some vegetale notes and slight spiciness. Rich, complex and warming.

Bottle. Dark brownish with big beige head. Aroma of fruits, roasted malts, yeast, bread, raisin, dried fruits. Taste is light sweet, caramely mouthfeel, acidic fruity notes. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation.

Bottle at home with dad. Deep, dark brown with eggy white, bubbly head. Can’t smell as I’m a bit crook but on the tongue I can pick up roast, spices, raisin and some alcohol on the finish. The taste is predominantly sweet but not too sweet. There is more in the complex aromas than on the tastebuds. The finish is long, warm and spicy. Looking forward to finishing the glass.

Butelka 330 ml. Bardzo dobre, pełne ciało. Barwa bardzo ciemna miedź, wybitna piana. Bardzo duże wysycenie. Delektować się powoli. Goryczkowe. Alkohol bije po głowie, ale w przystępny sposób.

Aroma of cloves, banana, pepper, yellow fruit, prune, bread. At first the spicy compounds from the yeast are prominent and prickly, then the caramel and the sweetness from the malt show up giving a decent balance. There’s a very very far hint of sulphur but surely not a big deal. Dark amber cloudy color, white long lasting foam. Sweet, slightly tanninic, hugely carbonated, not so attenuated as I expected. Not complex as her cousin her majesty Rochefort 10 but a great classic that everyone should try sometime.

33cl bottle. Hazy and very dark brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma: yeast, dark fruits, alcohol, bit of spice. Taste: yeast, caramel, dark fruits, spice, small amount of warming alcohol, slight roast. Lively carbonation, medium body. Decent. 2016 bottle so quite fresh, will have to try and aged bottle some time.

Hazy brown, small tan head. Really floral aroma with some toffee and caramel. Taste follows the aroma perfectly. Surprisingly no traces of alcohol. Full body, long sweet finish. Very nice.

Pours a hazy cola color with a robust light tan head that lingers. Mild aroma of roasted malt. Taste is sweet roasted malt, rock candy, dried dark fruit, some chocolate and just a bit of bread dough. Almost no bitterness whatsoever. Some alcohol warmth after the swallow, but no alcohol in the taste. Smooth and delicious, top drawer all the way.
