Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

0.33 bottle in Big Blue, Ba?anija, Istria. Hazy brownish red with lasting small off-white head. Sediment visible in the glass. Aroma of syrup, raisins, smoke, hints of strawberry jam. Crispy start, sweet, malty, syrupy, alcohol in the taste. Medium carbonation, full body, lingering sweet alcohol finish. Hints of dried fruits in the finish, too. Superb.

Bottiglia. Straordinaria.

What a beauty. The beer has a deep ruby red color, and it looks just as pretty as a ruby. The beer pours a nice layer of soft, fluffy foam with a slightly brown color tint. After a while the foam layer shrinks, but s rather thick layer of creamy soft foam remains on top of the beer. The smell is amazingly rich. There are aroma’s of raisin, almond paste, it reminds me of moms apple pie, only cinnamon is missing, and apple of course. The smell is dark, and deep, brown, very sweet and slightly bitter. There is some alcohol sweetness. Smell it and you know what I mean, words are. It enough to describe the smell and rich aroma’s of this beer. The taste the taste contains a lot of the smell. There is also this alcoholic sweetness, accompanied by the almond paste taste, which is very nice. The raisin is also present in the taste, really nice. The taste is just like the smell dark and brown and silky smooth, very special and very nice. On of the best beers on the planet, that’s for sure.

Aroma e sabor com notas de café e chocolate. Aparência escura, espuma densa e duradoura. Amargor intenso e teor alcoólico não evidente.

Ivory-white head pours on top of deep ruby red, slightly cloudy, beer. Dominant aroma is esters, pears, green fruit. Also some malt character, perhaps a light to medium caramel, and a hop vegetal component. The esters are there on tasting, but sit behind a complex malt ensemble: roast malt, burnt toffee, and liquorice. Quite a sweet finish, but the 9% alcohol is well hidden. Will drink again.

W aromacie glownie czerwone owoce. Lekko winne. W smaku raczej slodkie. Alkohol bardzo dobrze zamaskowany.

Bottle, 33 cl. With character, not that complex aroma, but powerful taste (high ABV).
