4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 cardofab (164) - Teramo- ITALY, ITALY - APR 15, 2012
Niente da aggiungere se non che questa é una grande birra. Meno fruttata e piú decisa di altre trappiste. mi piace molto la semplicit,á i sentori di malto tostato e di caramello e la tonalitá alcolica decisa ma non invadente. ottima.

Big Bottle. Strong scent of molasses and bready dough that transferred right into the taste only with a hot burn finish. Beautiful dense brown with frothy head. Medium silky palate. Winner over and over.

I love this beer at ambient temperature. It has a heavy yeast taste that yields to a rosy note on the tongue. Trappist beers are among my all time favorites.

Awesome beer, a classic. The aroma is caracteristic from Abbey beers, smells alcool and caramel, also has a big caramel taste also a little bit fruity I like the warm taste that this beer has. It has a dark brown robe.
A must, not my favorite Trappist beer but a real classic.

Aroma is zoete cake, kaneel en rozijnen. Smaak is wat peperig, koffie en weer cake. Carbonisatie is behoorlijk.

A deep brown with ruby port notes and a good finger of creamy white head that sat like a carpet across the top of the beer. Aromas of fruit leather, leather and fruitcake liberally dosed with dark rum. More complex caramels, cinnamon and allspice become evident upon nosing. In addition to that, there’s an almost armpit wild yeast character along with some basement mustiness (although not in a bad way).
Upon tasting that fruitcake character is foremost along with orange juice and then a return to the mature spiciness. A merry dance along the tastebuds indeed.

UPDATED: APR 16, 2012 Appearance: murky dark amberish brown. lively tan head, disappearing quite quickly and leaving no lacing. Aroma: bread caramel and raisins. Taste: medium sweetness with warm and toasty malt finish. Palate: full, creamy, lively body. Nice beer, but would recommend others in this category before recommending chimay blue.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Viceroy (91) - Bucharest, ROMANIA - APR 11, 2012
Appearance: Dark reddish-brown, with a beige head that fully diminishes and leaves little lacing.
Aroma: Plum, raisin, caramel, black pepper, chocolate. Very well balanced.
Taste : Sweetness is a little more muted then in other abbey ales i have tried, but definitely present. Very little alcohol taste.
Palate : Medium/full body, lively carbonation, smooth texture, with a soft, warming finish.

Delicious Belgian brew. Had it in a big bottle, and the taste didn’t disappoint. Not strong flavored or boozy by any means but just what I’d expect from a solid Belgian ale.

Big bottle. Poured a hazy brown color with full head. Aroma has strong presence of belgium yeast, candy, slight raisin, coriander. Med light sweetness, light bitter. Dry finish. Champaign like carbonation. Had this many times before and it’s always a winner.
