4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 fletchfighters (76) - AUSTRALIA - MAR 11, 2012
dark chocolate brown color, good head. Lots of raisins, chocolate, fruitcake in the nose and taste. Creamy body, quite chewy. delicious.
Not sure why I do not have any in my cellar as just improves and deepens over time
4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 foxo82 (162) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAR 11, 2012
33 cl bottle. One of more attractive beers you’ll ever set eyes on - pours a deep, dark chocolate brown. Cloudy with sediment and a thick, foamy head. Aroma of yeast, chocolate malts, fruitcake. The flavour is very complex - as you would expect from 9% ABV. Syrup, Christmas cake, some smoked/roasted notes, some bitterness to prevent it from becoming too sweet. The mouth feel is quite something - just the right level of carbonation plus it paradoxically burns and soothes at the same time. It’s hard to know where to knock this down - perhaps the aroma isn’t quite as spectacular as some others of this style but this is still a wonderful beer.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 mcmisko (276) - New York, USA - MAR 8, 2012
Pours a dark hazy brown with an copper hue, fluffy tan head. Smell: Sweet dark fruits and flowery perfume. Taste: fig, molasses, spice, apple, and a just a little toasty. Very smooth and creamy texture. Slight warming effect from the alcohol. After taste is warm, clean, and just a little toasty. Great balance of sweet, spicy, and roasted flavors with many complex flavors and much to be enjoyed. This is very drinkable, elegant, and just great!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 VincentL (157) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 29, 2012
Belle robe brune avec mousse généreuse. Arôme riche, épicé, caramélisé. Un peu sucré, un peu acide, mince amertume, riche et complexe, un peu fruité.
Note; elle est meilleure un peu plus chaude que la pluprat des bières.

A simple review will not suffice the complexity of both the flavors and the brewing process on this beer. Get a book and read about it and then drink it often as possible.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Lagerboy (416) - British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 28, 2012
Poured into a Chimay drinking bowl @ cellar temp. Darkest murky brown, no hue shines thru, big lasting creamy tan head. Dark fruit and malts, Belgian yeasty aroma. Taste is strong, powerful and complex... more flavors emerge as it warms. Toffee, brown sugar, roasted malts, dried dark fruits, spices and yeast. Warm alcohol finish. Every beer enthusist should sample this elite brew at some point on their journey. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)

Wow, is this a great strong ale. This beer is a great example of what a Belgian Strong should be. Slightly warming, but not overpowering. Soft mouthfeel with light carbonation. Try it if you can find it!
