COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Cherry flavors dominate with a sweet, buttery finish and mouthfeel. Large, persistent off-white head with some lacing but not a ton.

I blame Belgium for getting me into craft brews. I also thank the country for the same reasons. Smells of spices and dark fruit. Some spices and dark sweet fruit. Nothing overpowers the others. A slight smell of alcohol but well. Only issue is the price

330ml bottle as part of a blind tasting. I have no idea why I didn’t guess this given how much I’ve had in the past! Pours reddish brown with pale / munich malt, dark fruits, candy sugar sweetness - more than I remember previously actually. Strong, delicious and very well-blended. A classic!

Pours hazy chestnut brown with a 1-finger bone-colored head. Aroma of nutty malt and candied fruit with a touch of earthy yeast. Body is medium-to-full, with a slight thickness. The finish is dry and very lightly astringent. Flavor of nutty malt mixed with earthy yeast and a tart, lightly fruity note.

Birra belga per eccellenza. Perfetta. Decisi sentori di chiodi di garofano e caramello. Perfettamente bilanciata. Nonostante l’elevato grado alcolico mantiene una ottima beverinità. Una delle mie birre preferite.
