Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Incredible; glad I finally tried it. Alot of what you'd expect in the nose; but it tastes even better. Sweet up front with a nice balanced finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Donker fruitig fris aroma, mooie wolk-achtige schuimkraag. Prachtig smaak palet dat zich in de afdronk mooi langzaam maar fel ontwikkeld. Donker fruitig karakter met hinten van chocolade en port. Pracht bier.

Bottle, year 2014. Pours hazy dark amber to reddish brown with a big brown head that recedes into a thin layer of bubbles. Not much lacing here. Nose of yeasty fruits, taste likewise, ripe, dried fruits, banana, watermelon, candy sugar, malts, some alcohol but it is rather well hidden. Taste is not as sweet as the red version, well balanced with a light to medium hoppy bitterness. Smooth, vinous, oily palate. Long bittersweet finish. Lovely.

0.33l bottle. Dark brown to black color with big browny foam that disappeared faster than I expected. Aroma of chestnut, wood and cooked caramel. Some alcohol can be tasted and very little bitterness. Little overrated, but maybe it just is not my cup of tea(glass of beer).

Bottle in a huge tulip glass. Pours dark copper with the creamiest head I have ever seen in a Belgian style ale. The creamy head coats the side of the glass like ocean foam on the beach. Very well balanced. Deep, dark chestnut flavor throughout the palate. There’s cooked caramel and spice in there. Overall, a classic.

330ml bottle at home. Amber with an off white head. Yeasty earthy aroma. Fruity caramel flavour, dates and raisins with an alcohol kick. Long dry finish. Very good beer.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2014 Aroma: pan, banana, alcohol. Apariencia: marron, mucha espuma. Sabor: ligeramente dulce y ligeramente amargo a la vez. Paladar: cuerpo ligero, final un poco amargo. En general: buena, suave, pero pense que seria mejor realmente.

Finally got around to trying this one. Pours dark brown/copper with a small, quickly vanishing tan head. Smells fruity, carmel, yeasty. Taste follows the nose and finishes off with an ever-so-slight alcohol bite. Mouthfeel is medium, carbonation is definitely there but not overwhelming. Pretty great beer.

330ml bottle from the LCBO.Pours a bubbly tan head which left no residue after quickly dissipating. Opaque brown/red (copper) body. Aroma predominantly is yeast and alcohol contrasted well with caramel and malty notes. Mouthfeel is heavy due to a lively carbonation and a strong alcohol finish. Wood notes are present, however subtle.

Botella 33cl. Cerveza de color marron oscuro con mucho cuerpo y buena espuma. Sabor contundente que llena la boca dejando regusto de madera. Cierto toque caramelizado. Buena cerveza.
