Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Bottle pours a cloudy brown with a retentive tan head, good lacing. Some dark brown residue poured out of the bottom of the bottle and stuck on the head. Aromas of apple, sweet malt, caramel, alcohol, and pear. Very smooth taste, toffee, plum, and sweet yeast. A deliciously drinkable Belgian strong ale.

Aged 1 year. Aroma is very clean, parfumy. Some caramel notes. Pours dark brown with copper tones. Very subtle Belgian character with overpowering alcohol. Latest Chimay are not that good. Supposedly monks don’t have money.

Dark brown color and rich head. Aroma has yeast, malt, plums and a bit sourness. Complex taste with elements of coffee, chocolate, raisins, roasted malt. First feeling is sweet but in the end there is a good sour aftertaste. Excellent one.

Bottle from Cedric’s tavern. Pours dark, dark brown with a khaki head. Doesn’t leave a lot of lacing in the glass. Has a big molasses and Belgian yeast thing on the nose. Lots of brown sugar and dark fruits on the tongue. Hides it’s alcohol well. Nice.
