COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Bottle poured into a Chimay trappist glass. Appearance is a dark, brownish copper with a moderate tan head. Aroma is lots of rich malts, Belgian yeast, dark bread, plums, and raisins. Very complex and rich. Taste, which mirrors the nose, is as intense and complex as the aroma. Great all-around beer.

what a surprise for me. Deep brown color with frothy head, like cappuccino. Aroma of sweet red fruits,a bit of vanilla, chocolate, syruped fruits. flavour of vanilla,raisin,Coffee... Sweet in a word with long and astringent finish. Wonderful beer.

Pours brown with creamy persistent beige head. Aroma of dried fruits, licorice, light floral, candy sugar. Taste is nicely balanced by sweet caramel, some toasted malts and bitter hops. Smooth palate with, though alcohol is present. Full body.

Uitgeschonken in Chimay bokaal.

Reddish dark brown color with a nice beige head. Aromas include raising, fruits and caramel with some spicy notes, pepper; also alcohol traces. Sweet and malty flavor with a sparkling tongue sense. Very carbonated and with a long sticky end.

Dark cider/brown color; Medium slightly cream body; Aroma of sweet malt, yeast, dark fruit, & some spice; Flavor of slight roasted malt, yeast, caramel, dark fruit (notably plums), and spice; Slight alcohol at the finish; Nicely balanced and complex; One of the gold standards for the style.

330 ml bottle in osaka. dark, warming alcohol, sweet aroma but not cloying and thin body. couldn’t get much in aroma or flavour. somewhat underwhelming. I remember it being better - should try again and rerate.

Deep amber pour, thin but firm tan head. Nose is raisins, dark bread, hint alcohol. More sweet than bitter. The middle is wonderfully comfortable; a medium body, some cherries, light toffee, a touch of tobacco and medium roasted malt. Finish is gently bittersweet. Must try this.

Probably my favorite beer right now. Love the flavor, very smooth. the only thing I don’t like is the price.... i heard rumors they may begin to produce this in the USA to lower costs.... I hope!
