There is no perfect beer or ale! But this one is close. A true gift of God made by his servants. Bought a 750ml for about $15. Worth every penny. The Blue is a real treat. Better to leave in the glass a few minutes and let it start to warm a bit to release all of its potential and some of the CO2. Smooth as silk and full mouth feel with a hint of the strong alcohol content. Add this one to your bucket list.

Served in a Chimay goblet from a 330ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma is banana, molasses, clover, dark fruits, spice, bread and a hint of yeast. Taste is extremely smooth with banana, bread, clover, molasses and a hint of spicy notes. Medium body with medium carbonation, the 9% alcohol is virtually undetectable. Fantastic, warming and extremely enjoyable.

75 cl bottle pouring a dark ruby-brown and a glassful of head. Sweet and dizzying aroma the pungency slaps me in the face. Heavy malt and earthy accents with berries. A beer to knock you out after a hard days work. A

Very nice beer. I’ve tasted it for the first time in a Belgian Bar in Stockholm. It was ideal for a dinner with a great hamburger.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A bottle from Jason’s, near NCC Uni., drunk at home. Aroma: strong presence of alcohol. Appearance: head is of small bubbles, certainly not fluffy or foamy, minimal. Hazy, dark brown, almost purplish colour. Taste: raisins, wood, alcohol. Palate; warm, lasting, well-balanced. This has got to be one of my favourites - complex flavour with a real kick. Widely available in Taipei.

This beer was very interesting. Has a strong sweet and sour aroma and a large head. Taste of cinnamon and ginger also which was nice and different. Very great overall beer. It pairs well with Lays Lightly Salted potato chips.

Stubby little 33cl bottle to Chimay goblet. L11 date code, which makes this 2011 vintage, I think. Can’t believe that I haven’t entered a rate for this yet! Pours medium brown with a lingering beige head. Aroma is banana, molasses, clove. Flavor is super smooth... Banana, brown bread, clove. Really impossible to detect the 9% hiding in here. World class.

Bottle. 2014 tasted yesterday (14/Jul/2016)
Aroma: Caramel, raisins, dried fruit. Very delicate aromas, nothing strong. Being used to the strong new-wave scents I miss them here. Alcohol pretty much covered but you can feel it is there.
Appearance: Hazy dark brown with redish reflexes. Minimal off-white head that does not last more than a couple of seconds.
Taste: Traces of caramel in a malty sweetness and a bitterness that comes from the alcohol that is not hidden but rather ballanced. For my taste the alcohol is a bit too much prominent.
Palate: Medium carbonation gives that sticky feeling.
Overall: Seeing the score and how everybody goes crazy for this beer I am not that impressed. Judging by this bottle I’d say it is overhyped, and the brand makes a lot of the score. Although it is a very good beer and I did enjoy it very much. I will get back to this beer a couple more times to compare my rating.

750mL bottle. Pours a hazy, deep coppery reddish with a massive frothy off-white head. Nose is mildly funky Belgian yeast, dates, raisins, prunes, candy sugar, touch of Band-Aid phenolic. Mouth is medium-full, relatively sharp carbonation, creamy, dried fruity, caramel, hint of vanilla. mildly sweet. Haven’t had this one in years. Still solid.
