COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

I actually like this better than the 10. The flavor is outstanding- burnt caramel, rasins, wine, and something smokey. The nose is slightly sweet with touches of grape and rasin. This beer makes me want to be a monk.

Pours beautiful dark ruby, slightly hazy with nice creamy head that stays to the end. Aroma is malty, yeasty with hints of dark fruits, not very intensive. Medium body and carbonation. You can feel the liquor while drinking, but it is more like a warming sensation, not booze-like notes. Taste is malty with medium bitterness and quite delicate finish. Quite nice beer, but nothing that special.

Bottle, 75cl. A dark ruby beer with a big foamy head. Aroma is of dry fruits, nuts, alcohol and caramel. Taste is bitter with a strong finish. Rich and dense with a malt character. It has a considerable amount of alcohol, yet it is very well-balanced. There is some carbonation and astringency. The last of my great summer beer tasting!
