COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Suprisingly, the taste is very light. The high alcohol content is masked very well. It is a good beer, but I don't think it is anything special

Strong dark beer with warming alcohol which does not disturb its flavour. The taste is complex, spicy and persistent.

Great beer. I had it a number of times and it was always great. Very nice aroma of caramel and dark fruits, and similar in taste with a little warmth of alcohol which is very well hidden. Very tasty, very drinkable. A touch of beauty, art and greatness in the glass.

Pours a deep Amber color, aroma is malt, lots of dark fruit, sugar, hint of alcohol, spice - almost like all spice? - taste definitely malt and dark fruit, hint of alcohol, creamy and smooth. Pretty damn good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours with an average, light brown head with good lacing. Definite murky body that’s brown in color. Aromas of tobacco, musty earth and leather, and slight rotten eggs (not in a bad way). Definitely a long-duration flavor, with moderate sweetness. An excellent session beer.

Pours a nice, murky reddish brown with a think, bubbly head. Some dark fruity notes in the nose and Belgian yeast. Flavor builds on the aroma and it has the typical extra fizzy tingle on the tongue you would expect from a Belgian strong. Definitely a classic of the style and one that I come back to every so often.

When the aroma is less, I feel that I can’t feel/taste the beer. A good beer for sure but since I’m living in Belgium this is not the most special one for me. However I love Trappist beers!
