Hard to separate the beer from the reputation. The mouthfeel is soft but the tiny carbonation highlights the spice. The carbonation defines this beer for me, and the style. Fruity, spicy and euro.

Kolor solidnie zaparzonej herby, piana dość szybko opada, zapach drożdżowo- owocowy, wysycenie nie za wysokie. Bardzo pijalne. W smaku owocowość, lekko winne posmaki, troszkę paloności. Polecam :).

Dark brown colour. Aroma is yeasty and floral. Taste is complex: fruity, yeasty, sugary, chocolate, cookies. Finishes with a subtle bitterness. A Classic!

Smells like a nice beer. Non homogenous appearance throughout. Darker in the middle. Taste is complex. Multiple tastes required to put words to this delicate beauty. Palate similarly complex. I found this beer in a 750 mL bottle at my local Costco. Good beer to give as a gift for sharing and celebration. Would not drink a whole bottle in one sitting myself.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled side by side by side with the other chimays. Brownish purpish pour with ample khaki head. the alcohol is the most evident of the group, and is honestly not that enjoyable fresh. Raisin and plum and fig with the same biscuity floral yeast. I think this is my favorite if it is aged, but fresh, I prefer the dubbel. It is better than the 150 anniversary though.

75cl. Thick, creamy, yeasty, full-bodied beer. One of the best strong ales out there. This time I had a bottle of June ’13 - red sugary grapes were prevalent in the taste. Still can’t decide if which Chimay is I like the most.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I was really looking forwar for this one. The appearance is hazy brown/amber. Very high carbonation, the taste is well balanced really malty with just the right amount of hopps. The body is full, you get a warm feeling in your throat from the alcohol but cannot see it before. Great beer.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
330ml bottle. Pours beautifully. A hazy dark garnet, with a good sized head of creamy light nut coloured bubbles. The nose has an almost grape candy note up front, with alcohol, light cinnamon, yeast, a light woody note, and faint strawberry jam. Flavourful with, fruity, earthy, mineral notes up front that lead into brown sugar, dried fruits, and a bitter finish that mingles with some molasses, spices, and nutty notes. Great carbonation, light bodied, super flavourful, and terribly easing drinking at 9%. This is one classy beer.

Nice 3/4" head. Light chocolate colour. Good carbonation. Easy to sting with a nice hop balance. No lingering aftertaste which may be quite deceiving considering the beer is 9%abv.

Brown-to-ochre colour. NIce two-finger head. Assertive malty aroma. Strong, dark fruits (figs, some raisin). Taste is dark fruits, lively belgian smallhops, some yeasty cookie-goodness in the finish. Slight biterness in the late finish. Palate is silky smooth.
