Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Poured from an 11.2 oz bottle into a Trappist Glass. Slightly cloudy, but a beautiful deep brown. A one inch tan head quickly rises and slowly settles to a thin film that coats the sides of the glass. Aroma of fruits, vanilla and caramel. Medium sweet, medium body, and lively, though not fizzy like some other Belgians. While I have enjoyed this beer and would certainly look forward to it again, I found myself hoping for something more complex. As it warms its characteristics seem to be more pronounced, but still a bit one dimensional.

Finally got around to trying this one. Pours dark brown/copper with a small, quickly vanishing tan head. Smells fruity, carmel, yeasty. Taste follows the nose and finishes off with an ever-so-slight alcohol bite. Mouthfeel is medium, carbonation is definitely there but not overwhelming. Pretty great beer.

330ml bottle from the LCBO.Pours a bubbly tan head which left no residue after quickly dissipating. Opaque brown/red (copper) body. Aroma predominantly is yeast and alcohol contrasted well with caramel and malty notes. Mouthfeel is heavy due to a lively carbonation and a strong alcohol finish. Wood notes are present, however subtle.

Botella 33cl. Cerveza de color marron oscuro con mucho cuerpo y buena espuma. Sabor contundente que llena la boca dejando regusto de madera. Cierto toque caramelizado. Buena cerveza.

It’s very sweet in the aroma, with a small note of caramel and delicate notes of strong alcohol. It’s dark copper color, almost non-transparent, with small head. It’s highly carbonated. In taste it’s sweet, with small notes of caramel and fruits. But mostly it’s very alcoholic, alcohol is definitely on the foreground, so strong it sear in the mouth.

A great Beer to drink after a good meal or if you want a complex Beer for a quite cheat price. It's dark and complex with flavours that will stay in your mouth for a while.

Bottle ordered at Newsroom. Ridiculously expensive at this spot. Order somewhere else. I’m not kidding. Deep plum color with minor lacing that I attribute to my own not good enough pour. First word that comes to mind is smooth. The best of the Chimay color wheel. Malty sweetness at the forefront without overdoing the biscuity taste of other varieties. Just a perfect balance.Hides the alcohol really well. I’m a huge fan. This was number 300!
